Character Design Contest ♯37 Results (Opposites Attract)
It turns out this weeks poll was a landslide, with the winner getting more than double the votes of the 2nd place and, in fact, more votes than the rest of the entries put together. And that winner is Kytana for the amazing Bornfree. Well done Kytana, and well done to everyone who entered, there were some brilliant entries to this contest.

Character Of The Week- 31st August
Now, up until this morning I had a completely different picture in mind for this weeks COTW, however, when I saw this piece by prswirve when I did my rounds this morning, I felt compelled to change.
Now the first thing that caught my eye here was the patterns that cover her body. I love how they are light on one side and dark on the other, very unusual and effective, especially when the alpha setting on both colours is lowered to allow the shading from the items behind to show through.
The next thing I looked at was the face. She has a great look of focus, with the pursed lips and staring eyes, which is accentuated by the 'ready' pose. The shading here is great too, it brings out the facial features wonderfully and doesn't overpower the pattern that carries over onto the face from the body.
Which brings me nicely onto my second favourite thing about this character, the costume. I love the custom made top, which teams Far Eastern historic with modern style very nicely, shows of the skin pattern on the shoulder and manages to make pink, purple and brown work together. Of course not everything works brilliantly, the right shoe is a bit off and the cape by the leg could have worked better if a different cape had been used, but those are the only gripes.
However, the best bit of this picture for me is the energy effect prs has created. The warmth of the pinks, oranges and golds used is incredible, it looks like a sunrise and contrasts brilliantly against the dusty dull brown of the background at that point. Brilliantly done.

Exclusive: Batman/Superman To Feature Mercy Graves: Lex Luthor's Amazonian Bodyguard
CBN › News › Movie News
Posted by: Matt McGloin, Editor/Publisher August 29, 2013 13:54 | Updated: 3 hours 42 min Ago
Cosmic Book News has been tipped off from the same source that gave us the Bryan Cranson cast as Lex Luthor news that the new Batman/Superman movie set to star Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will feature the DC Comics character Mercy Graves.
We have no other information in regards to how the character will be used in the movie, but Mercy Graves first appeared in Superman: The Animated Series back in 1996, created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, as the bodyguard and chauffeur of Lex Luthor.
Mercy Graves' first comic book appearance was in Detective Comics #735, in the Batman storyline "No Man's Land," where another female bodyguard for Lex Luthor was also introduced by the name of Hope.
The storyline revealed the duo went toe-to-toe with Superman, with it coming out in later issues of Justice League: Cry For Justice that Mercy Graves is a member of the Amazons, the all-female warrior nation that Wonder Woman belongs to.
We can speculate that David Goyer and Zack Snyder will continue with their theme of using strong female roles in the DC movies much the same they did with the Faora, played by Antje Traue, considered a breakout performance by many in Man of Steel.
Obviously the potential use of Amazons in the Batman/Superman movies begs the questions whether or not Wonder Woman will make an appearance or cameo. David Goyer recently stated he would like to do a Wonder Woman film.
The character Mercy was also featured in episodes of Smallville as Lex Luthor's "#2," which was more an amalgam of many different DC comic book characters with Tess Mercer.
The sequel to "Man of Steel" goes into production next year for a July 17, 2015 release also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Big Question ♯16
Seeing as how the only person in the world who has reacted favourably to the news that Ben Affleck is going to be the next Batman is Matt Damon, I thought that I might as well ask, who would you have chosen instead?
Put yourself in the shoes of the casting director. The star of the last (a hugely successful with both critics and audiences) trilogy of films has ruled himself out of returning to the cape and cowl, so now you've got to find someone who can play an older more experienced and battle hardened Batman who can stand up to super-humans way above his power range for at least two movies and probably more as the Justice League juggernaut is prepared. Who do you pick?
