WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantAfter reading some other people’s backstories for their characters, I’m trying my hand. This is the second character I’m trying to provide a backstory for instead of just a general description.
Not much is publicly known about Maidenhead, except that she is one of the strongest women on Earth and uses that strength to bring swift, terrible justice to evil doers, with a particularly strong bias against those who abuse women and display misogynist tendencies. Many believe she was raised by Celtic Druids, others think she is an immortal ancient Roman priestess or oracle. Maidenhead herself has forgotten her land of origin and how old she really is. What she knows for sure and has learned of herself over her vast lifetime is that she was already ancient when Stonehenge was a budding idea in a long gone architect’s mind. That the tribe from which she came was long dead when the Sphinx and the Pyramids gleamed brightly in the desert with their original limestone coverings. That she is a mutant blessed with superhuman strength, agility, invulnerability and regenerative powers . And that her strength and eternal youth is tied to her virginity. Yes, Maidenhead, who is thousands of years old, has never known the touch of a man. She noticed early in her life she was stronger than most of those in her tribe and that she could defeat the mightiest warriors with ease. With the onset of puberty, she noticed a great decrease in her strength as she allowed herself feelings of attraction for a male. It can only be assumed she manage to remain a virgin by virtue of her great willpower as well as her physical strength. She has vast knowledge of arcane lore from around the world and in modern times has increased her knowledge of genetics in an attempt to better understand the nature of her power. For obvious reasons, she shares no details of herself with the other superhumans she has encountered, though she will ally herself with others for a greater cause.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantVery cool stuff! I love your back stories, especially bloke and Carlton Binder! After seeing your Mysteria, I decided to post Iron Maiden. Check her out in my “My New Creations thread.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantI would like to know how to place an avatar in my profile.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipant“BIG DEAL!” That was Sgt. Lincoln Kennedy’s reply when told he’s lucky to be alive, after being caught in an IED explosion in Iraq. That explosion did more than kill his entire unit; it was a dirty bomb that left him horribly scarred and sickened with radiation poisoning. After almost a year in and out of a coma, he surprised all of the medical staff attending him not only by surviving in the first place, but also by actually absorbing and metabolising the radiation that was ravaging his body. Increased musculature, bone and muscle density, healing, reflexes and strength were all gained in the process. Kennedy is probably the most reluctant superhero ever. He always hated his name, but out of love and respect for his parents never changed it. Proud of his service to his country, he has grown to hate the government that sent him and thousands of others to be maimed and killed in a foreign land that never threatened them. He has dedicated his life to fighting genuine threats to the country he loves, both foreign and domestic and exposing the “dirty little secrets” of his country. He has met and occasionally allied himself with other superhumans, some of whom gained their abilities through clandestine, government sponsored experiments. While it is not known just how strong and invulnerable he is, he refuses to use any weapon of any kind, relying on his brain and his brawn. There are those in government positions who support his efforts, but must do so in secret because there are more who view him as a threat for his efforts to expose corruption and refusal to be a “government tool.”
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantHave a character that really looks cool in the widescreen shot with the background I chose. How do I capture that widescreen image? The widescreen reverts back to normal view whenever any key is hit.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantI had to relocate my self portrait, so as not to go against the rule of too many threads. Still learning, here! Anyway, as I said before, this is a fair representation of how I really look, minus the tat. And though I have 4 basses, I don’t own a Rickenbacker!
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantGreat characters, and I dig your backstories!
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantThanks guys. Here’s my second HM3 character, Star Spangled Sister: Urban Warrior. I’m pretty satisfied with how she came out, though with time I know I’ll do even better. Originally, I wanted the stars to be black with no stars on the black arm, but I couldn’t figure how to color the pattern. I’ll include her original version done on 2.5. Which do you think looks better? I also wanted to screen cap the wide screen, but it kept going back when I touched any key. As I’m writing this an idea of how to do that just came to me. I’ll try it later. And Anarchangel, in response to your quote, look at Dark Cherub in my other thread, MyNew Creations.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantThanks Hammerknight. Glad to see that Knuckle Buster made the cut, lol! I am having fun, but HM 3 is really challenging me! I have a lot of trouble sizing costumes to the poses and end up abandoning the character in frustration and going back to 2.5. I’m experimenting with layering and I’m sure I’ll eventually get the hang of it.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantMIGHTY MITES: As per my earlier question re copyrighted material, I’ll leave Knuckle Buster up to you guys. Black Light is the tweaked version.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantOK, I can deal with that. After a little tweaking I’ll post him and leave it up to you guys. I’ll fully understand if you delete him and that will also give me a better understanding of what I can get away with. I won’t chance Iron Maiden. Maybe I’ll change her name and colors to post here and post the original elsewhere.
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantHow about a totally original character based on an existing concept? I made a Green Lantern in HM 2.5, which I named Knuckle Buster. The hourglass logo stands in for the lantern insignia, and he’s physically more like Puck from Alpha Flight. I also made a character named Iron Maiden, which is obviously based on Iron Man. Knowing that DC sued Marvel over Wonder Man, I’m not questioning her, but is my little G.L. safe to post? If not, where is a safe site to post them where HM and Jeff would not have any legal backlash but they can still be viewed by the HM community?
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantWhile I’m trying to figure my way around here, I hope I don’t violate any boundaries, especially over posting. After trying Kaldath’s latest suggestions, I hope these Classic and 2.5 characters show up. Here we go again!
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantKaldath, your suggestions have been very helpful. I have iPhoto on my Mac. I’ll try with that. Thanks again. It might be asking much, but if you took a look at the character I posted in the art gallery, Dark Cherub, I’d appreciate any ideas to fix small details with her. I had trouble with the masking to get her to have the weapon in her her hand and I couldn’t quite get the footwear 100% natural looking. Thanks again for the help!
WMDBASSPLAYERParticipantHas a very 80’s Japanese Ultra Man/ SuperHuman Samurai influenced look.
