Josiah Ashland Smith was born in 17th Century New England. Of course, back then, no one knew of mutants. His parents truly looked upon him as a gift from God, seeing that none of his older siblings lived past the age of 13 and his Mother was almost 40 when he was born and his father was well into his 50’s. Not the usual for the times. Nor was it usual that by age 13 Josiah was plowing the family acreage by himself without the aid of the horse team pulling the plow. There were those in the community who feared Josiah but due to the high moral standing of the family, kept their concerns to themselves. Plus, those self same people have more than once benefited from Josiah’s strength of body and spirit and came to look on him as especially blessed. Things started to change when Josiah and others noticed that while all those he knew and loved grew old and died, he remained very vigorous and youthful. When the first rumblings of witchcraft reached his ears, he quickly left the colony of his birth and set out to other parts of the new nation, never forgetting nor wavering in his Puritanical faith. It was not until the middle of the 20th Century that he learned the term mutant, and for the first time in his long life, turned to science instead of God to better understand himself. Josiah has had to reinvent himself numerous times over the centuries, usually as a decendant of his previous identity. He is currently living as Josiah Ashland III, professor of historical theology at a prestigious New England university. He has amassed a rather substantial fortune over his lifetime and has adjusted to each changing age rather comfortably. He fights meta-human “sinners” under the guise of The Pilgrim. Josiah is “blessed” with super human strength, regenerative and super healing abilities, extended lifespan, (though he has no idea of his actual life expectancy he doubts he is truly “immortal”), and an uncanny ability to focus in on immorality anywhere and to sense an individuals’ biggest sin. Though he is well over 300 years old, Josiah has the appearance of a very athletic man in his late 50’s or early 60’s. http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/02/PILGRIM.png

It occurred to me after I did the original version of Brainjack, that it wouldn’t make sense for him to have the superhero name before he actually became a superhero. So here is an adult version of Brainjack. Out of college and sporting that extra, buffed up look he wanted so much in high school, Brainjack invented a couple of gadgets to help focus and amplify his powers. His headst is a psionic-Alpha wave amplifier which helps him regulate the strentgh of his telepathic blasts and his wrist cannon directs them at an individual or a crowd as the situation merits. Both devices are under complete mental control. So much for Brainjack’s abilities and equipment. If anyone sees a direction to take him or has ideas to fill out his back story, feel free to borrow and elaborate on him. Just let me see where you take him, that’s all I ask. His original, high schooler version is in the thread My New Creations.BRAINJACK-ADULT.png

No problem. I do this purely for fun, not to promote myself as an artist, so I would rather remove something than get booted out of the forums or off the site entirely.

Got you, Hammerknight. Is Iron Maiden too much?

No backstory for this one. This is the HM3 reworked version of a character I originally did on 2.5. I wasn’t sure if she (the original version) would be going against the copyright rule, so I didn’t post her. Then after clarification on another character for the same issue, I posted her. I still felt a little nervous and took her down. Here is Stainless Steel, the remade version. Now that I think on it, I could have done better with the color scheme. Next is the original 2.5 version. If she’s too iffy, I’m sure Kaldath or Hammerknight will let me know.http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/02/STAINLESS-STEEL.png

had to come back and look at some more. Solaria vs. The Other totally blew my mind! Based on what you just said, I have to check out those other guys now. I’d appreciate any feedback/opinions on my work. Take care.

Unless I did something wrong, it didn’t come out the way I wanted. I’m trying to get that full picture that is shown when you hit the widescreen button that is next to the graph button when creating the character. I don’t want a stretched image. I’ll try again. Thanks for the tip.

First, I would like to say again, as I’ve mentioned several times, I’m a musician, not a graphic artist. With the exception of a somewhat decent eye for photography, I am not very visually artistic. That being said, I would like to dedicate all of my creations on Hero Machine to a close high school friend, Mylen Williams. Mylen was a very talented artist who wanted to draw for Marvel, and he was that good that I’m sure he would have reached that goal. Sadly, he was killed in a car accident and did not live to see 20. He would have LOVED Hero Machine! I’m sorry I lost the artwork he gave me all those years ago. Anyway, here is my second attempt at Dark Cherub with HM3. I left off the weapon because I could not get the masking to work, though it fell right into place with the Amazon I did earlier. I have sort of a connection to this character because I first came up with the concept as a custom fighter in Soul Calibur 4. I love gaming with a preference for fighters and shooters. Anyway, the story of Dark Cherub is that she is a twin mutant. Cherub, her sister, favors good and her look reflects that, having white wings. Dark Cherub embraced the dark side of her powers and as she matured, her appearance changed to match her evil heart. This of course put her at constant odds with her sister. Dark Cherub grew to regret her choice and wishes to reconcile with her sister. In time, maybe… Hi,Harlequin. I love your artwork! DARK-CHERUB2.png

In case anyone couldn’t figure it out by looking at my characters, I really have a thing for voluptuous Black women! That said, here is a generic Amazon I just came up with. AMAZON.png

Great stuff! Huntsman and Cracker Jack ROCK! I had the same problem when I first got hip to HM. I could only create using Classic or 2.5 on Safari or Firefox. Added Google Chrome and everything is cool!

Brainjack: Kevin Chung was just a normal kid, who happened to be really smart. Unfortunately, being really smart is never considered cool among high school cliques and if you’re not built like a football player, you’re pretty much a target for bullying. Except, one day, a bully suddenly dropped dead in the middle of his daily “pick on the geek” ritual. The official word was that the kid had a heart attack brought about by his use of illegal substances. While that seemed to satisfy everyone, (after all, what could the skinny, little twerp Kevin do to cause a heart attack in this big bully), Kevin was wracked with guilt. Because, while being beaten by that bully, all Kevin kept thinking was, “I wish this guy would just drop dead!” Unknown to him, Kevin is more than just really smart. He is a mutate with genius level intellect, (his last IQ test score was 196), and a telepath. He has the potential to be the greatest telepath the world has known, but all he is focusing on is getting through high school, entering college and gaining another 20 or so pounds.http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/02/Brain-Jack.png

Only got through the first 2 pages, but your work is amazing! Love your characters and concepts, especially the Outcasts. I’m a musician and back when I was still in high school I was so jealous of guys like you because I can’t draw to save my life. Hero Machine allows me to release that inner artist, but I’ll never reach your heights. Keep it coming!

Who he was is not important. Who he is, is VooDoo Jones, Zombie Warrior! Even the strongest superheroes have a hard time fighting the undead and that’s where Jones comes in. Master of arcane arts and Walker of the Bridge between the worlds of the living and the dead, VooDoo Jones protects the world against supernatural threats.VooDoo-Jones.png
