TheSoupsterParticipantThis next one is called Conduit, A.K.A Josh Whitson. Josh, a slightly awkward PhD student, is the unlikely centre-piece of the team, as his power is what brought them all together. Josh is able to sense the presence of another empowered human via emotional empathy, if they’re nearby, he feels what they feel. In addition, he can link up the minds of multiple empowered humans into a sort of telepathic conference call. When he is around, the team can communicate without words, a huge tactical advantage.
Josh first discovered his powers when walking past Jenny (see page 1), and suddenly being overpowered by a sense of isolation and despair. This was just when Jenny’s skin had began turning transparent (she was heavily made-up at the time), and as a result her life was falling apart. A few more chance meetings, and Josh figured out what was going on. The story had begun!
TheSoupsterParticipantJust finished reading through quite a lot of this thread. I love it! Particularly all the backstories. I think someone once said everyone’s got at least one novel inside them, and it’s class to get wee snippets of that coming through in all the bios. Keep it up!
TheSoupsterParticipantThis stuff is great! Loving your remade versions, particularly the way you made the fireball for Firebrand. I made a sort of fiery character myself a while back, but the way you layered all those items together to make the flame looks excellent. Earthson’s shading is also brilliant. Good job!
TheSoupsterParticipantNext Up: Heather Lee, an Art School student who has the power to emit and control a destructive cloud which can eat through anything. After seriously injuring a classmate (not to mention a tonne of her work) when the power first manifested itself, Heather was distraught, and withdrew into herself for months. Eventually, however, Josh (see below) found her, and through his guidance and support he showed her she could control her power, even going so far as using it for good. Now an expert sculptor, Heather continues to struggle alongside the others, an invaluable member of the team’s Glasgow branch.

Looking good, nice pose.
Welcome back. Thanks man! Glad to be back, I’d forgotten how satisfying it felt to finish an illustration!
TheSoupsterParticipantOne year on… Hello again, folks. Recently found myself drawn back to HeroMachine, so I thought I’d share what I’ve done so far.
Firstly, Brushfire, A.K.A Hannah McLennan. Edinburgh born and bred, her power is that she can shoot a separate jet of combustible liquid from each of her wrists. When they combine… let’s just say you don’t want to be standing too close! A bit of a loner initially, her and Jenny (see first post) eventually end up striking a firm friendship.
Quite happy with this one, particularly after such a long time! The pose was meant to be a sort of ‘shooting from the hip’ western idea, and I think that sort of comes across. Anyhow, what do you lot think?[By the way, apologies for the slightly ‘oversharp’ look of the picture. Had to rotate and shrink it in photoshop because when I exported from HeroMachine, it was all at a wonky angle. Ever happened to any of you guys?]
TheSoupsterParticipantI thought it was too obvious to mention, especially after my digging Super Mole pun.
I was going to say…! I mean I thought it was obvious enough, but maybe I was covering new ground for some people. At least we’ve unearthed the truth now. I was beginning to think it was clear as mud!
TheSoupsterParticipantI can see The Soupster hanging out at the opening of an Andy Warhol exhibit.
YES. Someone got it.
TheSoupsterParticipantThanks guys. Before I get onto any new stuff, I thought I’d put up a picture I did a while back of Moses and Danielle together (combined in Photoshop), who I posted individually above. Just so it’s got somewhere to live.
TheSoupsterParticipantThese are brilliant! Lurking and learning a lot, clearly! I really like the shading, and the general ideas of a lot of the characters are great, particularly ones like Radium.
TheSoupsterParticipantWow. It’s been a while. Thought I’d give it a shot at getting back into HeroMachine, seeing as how I’ve got some free time now. Hope you like the new creations!
First off, to get me back into the swing of things, my namesake: The Soupster. After he cut himself trying to open a radioactive tin of Irish Stew, The Soupster developed the incredible duel powers of Pulmentikinesis and Soupification: Manipulating and creating soup from any object. A feared crimefighter and a beloved chef, The Soupster now devotes his life to ridding the streets of unsavoury characters.
Also my first time doing an actual costumed hero. Quite fun! Easier than getting clothes to fit too! Anyone recognise the outfit…?
TheSoupsterParticipantKind
TheSoupsterParticipantHmmm… Some sort of Queen of Heaven idea? Definitely the gold, crown and sceptre would suggest some sort of ruling… Either way, really really good job, the tone on the skin is amazing, as are all the reflections from the gold. Beautiful piece!
TheSoupsterParticipantNext up, Super Mole. Genetic experiments, aimed at developing superpowers in humans, were first conducted on animals. Super Mole was one of the results. With incredible strength, intellect and digging prowess, Super Mole was initially tasked with rescuing survivors from the rubble of earthquakes. However, after seeing his fellow molekind exterminated like vermin in the countryside, he escaped the complex he had come to call home, and took up his place as defender of small ground-dwelling mammals everywhere.
I’d hold back on that Badger cull, Cameron…
The idea originallly came from a small rapid-prototyped model I made a couple of years ago. I’ll post a picture soon.

Hey, just went through your stuff! Awesome work on all of em’, but I’m loving Nelson, or “Potentate”. And great zypping on Static!
Thanks man, really appreciate that. I’m in the highlands at the moment, so perhaps I’ll get some snow/mountain inspiration for next week…
