Ok man bare with me as I explain this to the best of my ability.

You start off with the body…

Then you mask this top to it…

Take these insignias and play around with them until they line up with you liking on the breast. Then mask each insignia to its own body.

Here I imagine is where I lose you when trying to figure it out…
I’m gonna post this pick and then explain:

The flap of fabric drooping from the breast is just a cape shoulder piece stretched till it looks good.
The crinkles and folds in the bottom of the shirt are the belt pictured. Its also masked to a body. I include a pic with the mouse hovered over so you can see through it and kinda see how it lines ups. What you can’t see however are the insignias I used to cover up any lines I didn’t want to appear in the belt. I’m not quite sure how many it took. You may also notice in the picture there is another square insignia outlined in red near her legs. This is full body piece just masked to the insignia and hidden underneath the shirt used just to get the legs how i wanted.

3D printers will probably be the norm one day. Even now people are using them to create just about anything. From organs for the body…to even edible food! One video I watched had a 3d printer printing out a 3d printer!?!? Who wants to go in halves to get one?

Technology is way advanced now a days. I remember black and white televisions and no remotes to control them. Now I get netflix on my phone. We’re all gonna end up in the matrix one day… watch what I tell ya

Steam punk contest item request:
Ok… man….I had a very hard time picking just one thing to go into the machine. It was quite a headache. I had several items in mind and spent alot of time in the machine seeing if i could pull off something similar with what was already available. Could for the most part which made it that much more frustrating. So without further ado I submit…. uhhh maybe this one… no…. this one maybe??? Ahhhh…..

Ok… I know this is in a 3/4 turn pose and you don’t do that, but if anyways possible you could pull it off for the straight forward look… awesome!

The whole suit would be awesome!!! but mostly i just want the torso.
If you don’t fill like taking that on I have a couple of other things narrowed down I can choose from. Just let me know man.

@ JR: Yeah it really did man! I truly appreciate the advice, and you noticed some things as well that I wasn’t too happy about either. I created depth but didn’t give any to my character. I liked it better with just a black background. Without the candles and glow it wasn’t gonna push what i was going for in trying to define her character…maybe. People around here have good imaginations. ( You all know who you are… for anyone else reading ) I also appreciate the fresh perspective on the face. I’m thinking an aura may be the trick! Also a customized face instead of using a premade couple mixed together. I’ve also been hesitant about shading characters made without black outlines. I haven’t seen many examples of that around… but thats kinda what this piece is to me…pushing limits, and working with stuff im not comfortable with, so yeah that’ll probly happen. That second pattern circle is something i’m gonna have to try out too. Thanks for that, because no there are none on it. I Rarely use that… if ever I appreciate the chat JR!

@ JR: Thanks man. I’m glad you like it. Let me talk about this with you… If you don’t mind. I tried a little of your lighting style here. Towards the end, layer hierarchy got conflicted and it became a pain to work with. In your opinion…Whats the best way to work around such? This piece has around 170 something layers give or take. And many multiples of certain insignia/ pattern. I found myself several times going through the numbers of the piece under the items tab until I found the right piece to move. Is there a better way? The face in the smoke was also a pain to try and pull off as well, and to be honest I’m not happy with it. I’d love to see some others try and pull it off. Do you ever get to a point when working on something that you think you maybe… uhhh how to word this… either you’re trying to hard to make something work, or you’re over looking something crucial/ simple that you could use to make it the way you invision? It looks like a simple piece but off and on I think I may have more time in this than any other I have. I don’t know man… I’m not sure if its just where I’m trying to make the machine do stuff it’s not supposed to do, or if just where i’m not used to the style and i’m missing something. It just seems there should be an easier way than what i had to do. If you need the text to help clarify some of my issues I can hook you up with that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as to what you may have done differently.
