Sh&%, I’m really sorry that happened to you. That really wasn’t my intention when I recommended to clear your browser cache. But then again, as far as I know this almost only happens if you use Internet Explorer as a browser. There were no such problems reported with firefox and chrome lately. Maybe it’s time to consider switching to a better browser?

And like Nug already said, it’s always better to save your characters externally in text files. It also helps to keep it more overseeable if you have 400+ characters. I for example have always just one character in my list – the one I’m actually working on. (Also I save every few minutes just in case.)

Here’s a quick manual how to save your characters externally:

    When using a Windows PC:

1.) Open the Text Editor by clicking Start > Programs > Accessories > Editor
2.) Open HM3 in your browser and load your character.
    3.) Click save in HM3.
4.) Choose the tab “Text” and you can see the HM-Code of your character.
5.) Place your cursor somewhere in the text and press CTRL+A followed by CTRL-C
6.) Go to your open Editor window and put your HM-Code in it by pressing CTRL+V
7.) Save the code as a “txt” file somewhere on your computer where you can find it again later. Best if you name the txt file the same as the character, but that’s up to you.
    8.) Done!

    When using a Mac:

1.) Open TextEdit in the “Programs” folder or with Launchpad (OS X Lion und Mountain Lion)
    2. – 8.) The same as under Windows…

Again: I’m really sorry to have caused you problems. 🙁

@ Nug: I didn’t forget you, but I was a bit preoccupied in creating new items for the ‘machine. (Hope he swallows that cop-out.) Uhm, yeah, what I wanted to say was that I’ll start working on your gift immediately! (More likely after christmas, admit it.) Uhm, however, looking at your wish list I guess I gonna have to make yet another villain for Super-Mom since it’s the only thing on it I think I’m capable of doing. (If at all.) Or is there anything else you’d like to have? ^^

Damn voices in my head …

Yes! Like that is good. That and tighter knots are hard for me.

    I think you should have a look at “ItemsRight/Miscellaneous” … 😉

I’d love a square knot of twisted rope or a candy cane or a jar of candy or a sparse background storefront set.

Store front set? Pretty big item (but then again I like me a challenge from time to time, hmmm) …
    Candy cane? Sounds easy enough…
Square Knot? Help a non-native-english-speaker out here. Do you mean something like this?

So, after a longer hiatus I finally managed to put a few new items in the ‘machine. More to follow soon …

    Hope you like them! 😉

Santa Swap gift for Keric: A character named ORION.

    Orion for Keric
(click picture to see it in full size.)

    Name: Orion Kinivos
    Aliases: Orion
    Age: 28 (-1064)
    Alignment: Good
    Associations: None

    History:

Born in 3078 on an artificial planetoid orbiting the red giant star Betelgeuse, Orion (named after his birth star system) was a lawkeeper and hunter who protected the colonists from earth and other worlds against the many dangerous and terrifying adventive beasts that roamed the savage jungles of Nova Chios.

But when he fell in love with Merope, the daughter of the colony’s chancellor Owen Pion, he was accused of rape by her father. As punishment he was blinded and banished from his homeworld. Seeking help and a cure for his blindness he traveled to Neos Olympia, home to the EOS Corporation – a multinational conglomerate that operates human colonies outside earth’s solar system for the purposes of commercial research and mining, often without regard for the lives of anyone involved in their endless pursuit of profits.

Here he was subjected by lead scientist Arja Temis to an experimental cybergenetic procedure involving nano technologies that enhanced his complete biological make-up beyond that of any known living being. Equipped with his new powers, Orion was then charged with leading a troop of Colonial Marines to explore a new detected planet in the Alpha Centauri star system.

Arriving on said alien planet, he found a tribe of sapient humanoids with a primeval and yet emotionally far advanced civilization living in harmony with nature, and soon learned the true secret mission of his unit: The conquest of the planet for predatory exploitation – even if it means the eradication of the native inhabitants.

Sympathizing with the natives, Orion revealed his change of allegiance when he attempted to sabotage his crews ship and weapons, but when trying to absorb the blast of an exploding annihilator bomb in the final battle for the planet, his energy absorbing abilites were overloaded and his body seemed to implode.

When Orion awoke, he found himself thrown centuries back in time to earth. Trying to settle into an irritating and both technologically and socially awful primitive environment, he now tries to prevent the rising of the EOS Corporation which has its roots in the beginning of the 21st century …

    Powers:

The cybergenetic procedure of EOS changed Orion’s entire physiology down to the genetic and cellular structure and provided him among other things with a supreme physical and mental condition far beyond that of a normal human being. He is faster, stronger, more intelligent and overall superior to both humans and metahumans and has the ability to absorb virtually any type of energy and channel that energy to achieve various effects such as increasing his already enhanced physiology; generating light, heat, force, electricity and other forms of energy; gaining the capability of interstellar flight at sub-light speed; solidifying energy into force-fields; producing blasts from his hands as well as his eyes; obtaining the capability to siphon his opponents’ powers, making them temporarily unable to use them; and many more.

Santa Swap gift for CantDraw: A new Red Bat villain

    THE (BORNEO) BATEATER
    Bateater for CantDraw

    Powers:

Bateater possesses certain unusual physical powers derived from his snake-like physiology. All of the bones in his body, including his skull, are malleable and his muscle tissue is exceedingly resilient, making his body very flexible and pliant. His flexibility enables him to slither into and out of very tight and small places and to wrap himself about a victim’s body in order to exert his full superhuman strength. He is capable of generating up to 125 pounds of pressure per square inch, which is enough force to crush both steel pipes up to 6 inches thick and normal human beings. Furthermore his jaws, which have the strength to deform soft iron, can dislocate far enough to fit a human head and his fangs produce a fast-acting poison that is of sufficient strength to be able to kill even superhuman victims.

Santa Swap gift for Linea24: A new interpretation of MASS INDECISION!

    Mass Indecision for Linea24
(click picture to see it in full size.)

    Name: Too many to count.
    Aliases: Mass Indecision
    Age: Unknown
    Alignment: Random
    Associations: THE ALMIGHTY HELIX!!!

    Powers:

Mass Indecision has the ability to distribute his own mass however he likes. This doesn’t mean that he can make himself heavier or lighter, but rather that he is able to decide how his weight of 75 kilograms (165 lbs) is distributed. For example: By shifting his complete mass into his fist, he can smash through thick steel and by shifting it into a single finger, he can pull/hold himself up with it. He can also optimize his every movement to be as efficient as possible – who thus can often seem pointless and random to outside viewers. Unfortunately for everyone, the other day he received instructions from “The Helix” how to concentrate all his mass into one single point and make a (very small) black hole …

    History:

Mass Indecision used to be one of the best superheroes, but when he accidentally shifted all his mass into his brain he went totally nuts. Since then he hears voices in his head which he thinks come from random objects such as a rock that he always carries around with him. He believes the rock to be possessed by a powerful, almost omnipotent entity from another dimension, called “The Helix”, that chose him as mankinds savior. But it’s hard to convince people that you are the second messiah when you run around muttering random, pointless things like “praise the helix”, “anarchy, not democracy”, “a a a b down a a b a start9”, etc. and throwing rocks into people’s faces while shouting “WORSHIP THE ALMIGHTY HELIX!!!”. He still acts as a superhero, alas his bad habit to throw his “helix rock” at friend and foe alike makes teaming up with him a gamble and a half.

Glad you like it … 😀

    @ Herr D:
Like I said: I suck at sophisticated backgrounds like those you describe. But maybe I’ll find something on your updated list. And if everything else fails, I can still try to bribe you with a new item for the ‘machine … 😉

    @ Keric:

A little tutorial to avoid extra long posts like those of Keric and Skoul:

    When using a Windows PC:
1.) Open the Editor by clicking Start > Programs > Accessories > Editor
2.) Put your HM-Code via copy & paste into the now open window, then save it as a “txt” file somewhere on your computer where you can find it again later. (Maybe you can name the txt file the same as the corresponding image, but that’s up to you.)
3.) Now, when writing a post, simply upload this txt file the same way you upload an image.
    4.) Done!

    When using a Mac:
1.) Open TextEdit in the “Programs” folder or with Launchpad (OS X Lion und Mountain Lion)
    2. – 4.) The same as under Windows…

Sorry for sounding like a smartass, but even if I’m gonna get on your bad side I’ve got to say that this scrolling for miles and miles to reach the next post is pretty annoying… 😉

-A better name for my half dragon/half man character.

Perhaps a bit unimaginative, but how about “Drake Malecor”?!

-A sidekick for my archer vigilante character

How about “Bowstring” (see attachments), an older character of mine?! I’ve revised since, but maybe you have use for this version. 😉

Name for a hero would be ‘Gavel.’

Beware the mighty Gavel! Yeah …, no. Sorry but that doesn’t sound much like something that’d give a hardboiled criminal the jitters… 😉

An unusual power “Tunnel Vision” […]

Now that sounds more like something I can play around with. Maybe more a “trouble” than a “gift”, but nevertheless very inspirational…

Happy thought: in theory, it is possible to make a working organ or harpsichord or xylophone from icicles. Imagine how interesting it would be to watch a musician see one of those for the first time before they even sit down to play, aching to try it out.

Now you depressed me even more. Just imagine how the musical instrument made from icicles starts to melt in the middle of a musicians magnum opus. Poor guy… 😉

    List:

1.Text for Background: 3/4 view of street from spaghetti western town. Long bit of street visible for dueling, just one participant will be much closer.
    2. Text for Background: Interior library, neat.
    3. Text for Background: Window boarded up in a rush, done badly on interior wall, bland olor, some bright blue sky visible outside.
    4. Microscope on a table.
    5. Man shaving in mirror.

Urk, now we have problem with the rules. I don’t see me doing any of those things since I suck with backgrounds and fancy poses. Maybe I’m gonna have a try on that microscope but better don’t expect a masterpiece… ^^

EDIT: Damn! Skoul beat me to it. What now?!
