Herr DParticipantThought I’d stop by and take my bows–[bows twice] and say that if I don’t get to this, that I’m trying to find the time for FNF. Monsters are so, well, me. Hope you’re in it too, man. MTM was a bit too proper for that dress, I guess. Boy, would she look strange on a modern red carpet, eh?
Herr DParticipantI’ve wondered, from my own masking delays, whether complexity of shape and other factors like gradient patches slow down the ‘machine–?
Glad to hear about the positive response for MM. Ironic, isn’t it, that bullying in this case was about toleration and friendship fables? That’s like the Department of Defense arresting a pacifist citing danger to the community. I do hope the bullies in question are left with the nagging doubt whether anyone will ever find them worth 52k . . . perhaps I’m hating on haters? Really easy to do.
–Signed that certificate yet?

Okay–if 2 people vote here, saying they want different items, and no one votes against before I check in here again, I’ll choose 3 others. Otherwise, I’m extending these 3 items to 2/5/14, when I’ll judge.
Here’s hoping that people are scrambling with the FNF’s that I may not have time to enter or are having trouble finding ‘machining time for scheduling around things like the Superbowl or snow-shoveling like our recent six-day weekend here in the DC area. [ducks as native of Montana throws rotten cabbage] Well? Not every local government can handle snow! Our local resources aren’t geared toward that! We normally handle those national, federal things h- [stops, looks around, realizes what that sounds like] We’ll WORK on it, ALRIGHT? Or, I will as soon as someone starts paying me again.
Okay–lets try once more. Same items. 2/13/14 to judge.
Herr DParticipantI knew. You might even post a recipe / tutorial for top views of people now that you’ve made a few.
Herr DParticipantYou’ve come a long way, WMD. I just looked at your progression. You may consider yourself headed for becoming a WeaponsofMassDestructionDigitalArtist . . .
Herr DParticipant“Mr. Rielsehn?”
“Who are you?”
“I’m Brian, the temp who’s supposed to prepare the books for audit? Today’s my first day, and I’ve already found a problem. Several of these budgeted items make no sense at all.”
“Oh. Well, by all means, read them to me. I’m legally blind, but I know the business–I’m sure I can remember them if you prompt me.”
“Okay–“
“Have a seat, son; get comfortable.”
“Uh, okay. Ahem. –The seven company vehicles are listed as having their engines removed ten months ago, but then their transmissions reinforced, then they’ve been insured, registered, and listed as providing transportation, needing tires and brake maintenance as recently as this week.”
“That’s all?”
“What? Um. No? I also notice that you have properly funded all twelve buildings of this rehab clinic in every way but one. You have no therapies listed except a combination of sedatives.”
“Sleeping cold turkey.”
“Y-yes.”
“Anything else?”
“You have employees dubbed ‘shamanistic painting crew’ being paid as withdrawal experts, detox nurses, building and vehicle maintenance, AND security. Large quantities of paint purchases are categorized as detox medications and paintbrushes as hospital equipment. You have all the rooms in all the top floors listed as ‘fuel repositories.’ You have budgeted for water, phone bundling, and trash removal, but the generators you have to power your facility have no money for FUEL.”
“These problems you’ve found aren’t problems, Brian.”
“How can they not be problems, sir? Your budget makes no sense at all!”
“It’s a matter of conversion. Fuel is being extracted directly from the process of detoxifying the patients, from causing them to sleep through ‘the horrors’ or what some professionals have referred to as delirium tremens. The fuel is captured and channeled by the shamanic painting crew, and powers the generators and vehicles. Take a look, if you like–just open that door and climb the stairs . . .

Is that a fresh wound on her thigh? Maybe go with a blue (oxidized blood) or red / black (bulging bruise). Definitely a fan of her hair and rag.
Thank you. Yes and no, Lol…it was actually intended to be a fresh scrape, hence the blood, which also snagged her stockings. Couldn’t find a look I was completely happy with.
Bruises are usually best as multiple layers of translucent purple and dark yellow mismatched insignia. SCRAPES are sometimes good to run ‘through’ a bruise and usually best as overlapping multiple translucent blades in skin color, reds, and some random scab colors thrown in. If you make the shape you have solid skin color as just the stocking run and start layering on the injury . . . I like her already, I was ready to assume a tattoo had lined up with a stocking run.
I prefer the Galactic Rockers, of course. That drummer reminds me of an old girlfriend . . .
Herr DParticipantNow that’s someone I wouldn’t want to meet in a dark mithril mine. He might strike oil and kill us both.
Herr DParticipantGood thread title. Highlighting / shading takes practice, or at least a lot of trial and error or copying how other people do it, but I can tell you the basic principle easily enough. In Backgrounds / Shapes last section, there are two circle gradients. Take the leftmost with colors 1 and 3 at alpha 0% and turn color2 to white for highlighting or black for shadowing. Vary transparency or color for desired effect and don’t be afraid to try everything–pixels don’t cost much to replace! CantDraw put up a tutorial for “sparkles” which is pretty good. You might try to imitate headlessgeneral, JR#, and some others too; they’ve done some of the best lighting / shadowing work on humanoid faces.
Herr DParticipant“Break” was an ordinary terminal brain cancer patient until an experimental implant eradicated his malignancy, boosted his adrenal gland to superhuman levels, turned his skin a peculiar bright yellow, hardened his body to metallic levels, lowered his metabolic requirements to rodent levels–

–and messed with his head a little bit . . .*blog brute contest
Herr DParticipantThough it might sound like cheating, I would suggest using the upper right leg item as the only whole item from legs. Mask the other knee in and build the rest from heads. All I got for now.
Herr DParticipantPost #1: Do you want the mike to hover? Masking objects to hands is a good skill to practice, and there are several tutorials around you might peruse on that and other subjects. If you don’t want it to hover, traditionally there might be a translucent glow or other energy effect visible.
I like Alaysius and Jeane as is. A vicious ZZTop vs. a scantily-clad queen of light sounds fun. The item you used for Regina’s hood normally needs an item to close it off in the back, but I guess you should only close the bottom because of her horns, huh? Tommy looks good flying upside-down, but I’m confused about why the city is yellow and green–are neon colors part of his hell? I might go along with that, but if it was me I’d write that in a blurb or something. Welcome, and, keep ’em comin’.
Herr DParticipantOkay–if 2 people vote here, saying they want different items, and no one votes against before I check in here again, I’ll choose 3 others. Otherwise, I’m extending these 3 items to 2/5/14, when I’ll judge.
Herr DParticipantCircles would probably be dominant, but hair shadows might be enough for some. I’m thinking that no matter how you look down on the crowd, you’re looking down. If you look at the wrestler dead on and don’t see the ring floor except as a line (edge on) then you’d see the crowd cut off and dead on further away. If you have an angle shot downwards like this, you should see people in almost the flying pose with their knees sticking out on the front row or screen the knees behind the edge of the ring and have the tops of the seats showing a bit between each row to screen lower bodies and give more depth.
Two other options:
1. Balcony standing room only. Move them back, up, and behind rails, pack ’em in tight. Them looking down means we don’t need to see head tops.
2. Risers, similar to stadiums without seats. Gradually make the rows smaller as they move behind and up out of view. No seat backs.
Herr DParticipantSo, the moral of post 43 is “never sit or step on a stump when you’re walking through the woods alone?” I’m convinced. Dr. Strangeface is pretty good too. A deranged, cleaver-wielding, murderer wearing noir-fashions and a C3P0 mask? Surprisingly good combo.
