My first foray into Dblade’s Whiz Bang Item Dispenser! How exciting!

So I have two options, for you. You can pick whichever one you’re feeling most.

    OPTION 1: QUETZAL

I was thinking maybe a quetzal could be cool for Companions>Standard. Maybe the tail feathers could also be a separate item for use in costuming/hair?

    OPTION 2: METATRON’S CUBE

This one’s for my love of sacred geometry. There’s the actual version (lots of lines) or a simplified version. Either one is cool. This could be for Backgrounds>Shapes

So whichever on you want to do (or feel would be most versatile for the machinist community). Thanks Dblade!

I think everybody would prefer to pretend that Ultimates 3 never happened…

But in any case, nice work on Pinpoint! Your gun-toting purple-hued vigilante has a way better design than the “totally extreme!” 90s Grifter-knockoff they ended up going for with Ultimate Hawkeye during the run-that-shall-not-be-named.

Yrys looks great! You can never go wrong with rainbow hair. (Also, genderfluid characters- yay! Any possibility of more non-binary characters in the future? http://www.heromachine.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif )

    Now that you mention it….

    SINGULARITY
    Nehyüt
    Identity: Agender, Asexual, non-human organism
Bio: Nehyüt claims to be a high-ranking emissary from an alien civilization that has evolved to the point of completely abolishing the need for sexual reproduction, sustaining their society with non-degrading cloning procedures. They are a society with a singular identity, with only tangential differentiation between its members. They consider sexually and genetically diverse societies to be perverse and barbaric. Nehyüt hopes ‘enlighten’ humanity, to accelerate its evolution. Unfortunately xe has decided that shifting humanity to a non-gendered evolutionary state would be easier from a more uniform stock. Xir plans call for the annihilation of biological men from the human populace to avoid ‘dilution’.
Abilities: Nehyüt is fused with wildly advanced technology, infusing xir with cosmic energies that enhance xir strength and durabilty. Xe posses cosmically reinforced psychokinetic abilities that allow xir to project powerful bursts of energy, create force constructs, and perform complex feats of telekinesis and telepathy.

    Thanks everybody!

Posting YRYS again with a background for the anything goes challenge on the blog.

For the curious, the symbol behind him is a highly simplified version of Metatron’s Cube. I’m actually going to get this tattooed on my chest in the near future. :)
Here it is without Yrys in the way:

Walker and Psyche are amazing! Great job on those redesigns. A very nice balance between staying true to the original design and adding your personal touch.

JR: Aw! Thanks! It’s nice to know my creations have stuck with somebody.

AMS: Wow! That means a lot considering I browse your thread for inspiration all the time. :D

One more for tonight and then the work week is on. (boo!) This is my character Enigma under his new codename, after he finally settles on an identity and his abilities cohere into a set form

    SIPHON
    T.J. Knowles
    Identity:Polysexual, cisgender, male
Bio: This is T.J. after the final battle and after he comes to terms with his feelings for fellow teammate Cody Cavanaugh and decides on his identity. He expends much of his energy reserve in the confrontation with Abbaddon. This, combined with the psychological impact of his realization, allows his abilities to settle into one final expression.
Abilities: T.J. still wields the extra-dimensional energy that emanates from his body, but in a much more manageable form. Through touch he is able to copy the abilities of other posthumans and restructure his own body to temporarily mimic these abilities, with the side effect that his targets lose access to their own abilities for a similar amount of time. Conversely, T.J. can choose to infuse those he touches with his energies, boosting their abilities to heightened levels, at the cost of leaving T.J. physically drained.

    Thanks Al and Vampyrist!

So just trying to make new characters/stay in practice. Here’s an idea I may or may not utilize. Remember my Triad group from Spectrum? The extra-dimensional beings that represent Mind/Body/Spirit? No? Well just check out pg 18 for some context haha

Anyways, I thought one possibility of that storyline wrapping up is that the three brothers combine together, erasing each of themselves (especially the psychotic Abaddon) from existence and creating a new being. This is that new being.

    YRYS
    YRYS_KESHET.png
    Identity:Pansexual, Male-Bodied, Genderfluid
Bio: Yrys came into being when the three brothers fused themselves together to end Abaddon’s assault on reality. He is the perfect combination of them, aspects of his personality, powers, and body reflecting each of them. He was a bit arrogant, but kind. He simply wanted the chance to experience life on our planet. The US Government was wary of allowing an extra-dimensional being loose on the planet, but Spectrum volunteered to take him in and train him.
Abilities: Yrys’s abilities reflect his origins as the fusion of the three brothers. His body is highly durable and he has a limited degree of superhuman strength. He has very quick reflexes and is a natural warrior, his natural gifts supplemented by Cub’s combat training. His mind is highly resistant to telepathic manipulation and he possesses an intuitive six sense that allows him to feel emotional resonance in his environment. He also has the ability to project bursts of the energy native to his home dimension, in crackling glowing-blue bursts of light.

Another villain. This time the extra-dimensional conqueror whose massive invasion led to the formation of the Saviors. His body was utterly destroyed, but you don’t conquer a chunk of the multiverse without learning a few tricks. Xyxyr the Conqueror was able to hold his consciousness together long enough for his few surviving minions to collect him and allow him to inhabit his ceremonial armor. His empire decimated, Xyxyr waits in the shadows, pulling strings behind the scenes until he can rebuild his domain, starting with this Earth.

Thanks guys! I’m kind of in the mood to make some more villains. Remember young Almanac from my Saviors team? He had some unsavory parents…

DR. ARTHUR ABRAMS & DR. MOIRA ABRAMS

Tyler Abrams (Almanac)’s abusive parents, having escaped custody from their jailers, track their son down hoping to harvest his brain tissue and incorporate the successful results of their experiments on him into their own bodies. They’ve drastically altered their own bodies to enhance themselves in order to better accomplish this goal. Arthur Abrams has replaced a large percentage of his body with a more rudimentary form of his son’s advanced biotech systems. He possesses enhanced strength/durability, weapons systems, and an impressive array of sensory apparatuses. Moira Abrams has dosed herself on mutagenic cocktails and tailored her DNA to be more susceptible to genetic alteration. Her gauntlets flood her body with mutagenic chemicals, but limit the phenotypic expression of any changes to her hands/forearms, allowing her to temporarily shift her limbs into more useful forms.

Continuing on with the Latino superteam concept.

Here’s the main antagonist of this whole story.

    LA MALINCHE
    Malintzin
Bio: The legendary figure of La Malinche, a young Aztec woman said to be instrumental in the downfall of the ancient Aztec empire in her aiding of the invaders and her relationship with Hernán Cortés. In their dying act, the high priests of the royal family cursed her with their most powerful magic, giving her all-enduring, unending life, but with constant crippling pain and an inability to withstand even the smallest amount of light. They took her and sealed her deep within the Pyramid of the Sun, infusing it with the Great Light, reflecting by the Sacred Mirror to contain her therein. But, over the centuries spent among the shadows, Malintzin learned their songs, their prayers, and made contact with dark primordial forces, becoming a vessel for power greater than the sorcerers who condemned her. Still, she was contained and despite her power, could not overcome her curse.
The priests foresaw this end and condemned Malintzin’s sister by association. The young girl was given power, tapped into the earth itself, and made immortal, tasked to safeguard her sister’s prison. This young girl would forget her own name over the centuries, taking the title Yaotl. She had guarded Malintzin’s tomb for centuries without fail until the fated night when Luz and Guillermo Garcia would stumble into the pyramid, removing the Great Light and the Sacred Mirror, allowing La Malinche to emerge. Now she makes her way North, following the siblings with death in her wake. She has designs for both of them. Terrible designs.
Abilities: La Malinche wields the Primordial Darkness, the void that was before creation. Her shadow can extend itself and manipulate the world around her. She can infuse a portion of these shadows with her will, sending them out as loyal soldiers to do her bidding. La Malinche’s greatest weakness is the light, and so she remains cloaked at all times, to diffuse her exposure.

And an example of the kind of shadow being that she is able to summon:

Thanks for the praise, everybody! Here’s the last two members (with a redesign for Guapo, since I had a new angle going for him when I started developing his powers/origin)

    DIVA
    Rosita Lopez
Bio: Rosita is a transwoman living in Los Angeles. As a child, before her transition, she befriended a young man named Armando, and throughout their lives they have been inseparable. She was raised in Los Angeles by her abuela, her father never having been in the picture and her mother overdosing and passing away when Rosita was a child. As she grew Rosita began to hear thoughts of others around her, and to see things in her mind that had happened elsewhere, or that had yet to happen. Her abuela told her that this was the ‘sight’. It was part of the reason that her abuela never doubted Rosita’s transition, because the sight was a gift that passed down to the eldest women of every generation in their family. Rosita’s mother never learned to control her sight, which drove her to numb it with drugs. Her abuela did not want the same thing to happen to Rosita so she trained her in the use of the sight, turning Rosita into a powerful telepath.
Abilities: Rosita possesses telepathy, able to read and project thoughts. She can also alter memories and emotions in others, or manipulate their nervous systems to produce a stimulus response, either pain or pleasure. In addition her extrasensory perception grants her psychometry (the ability to read the memories of places/objects, and detect residual emotional impressions) and precognition (brief glimpses into the future) although her practice with these gifts is not as extensive.

    DIVA.png

    GUAPO
    Armando Acosta
Bio: Armando and Rosita had been friends since childhood. When Rosita revealed herself, Armando became her fiercest protector. Her courage inspired him to live openly himself, coming out as a gay man first to her and then to his family. Rosita accepted him whole-heartedly, but Armando’s family was not so approving. It wasn’t a violent confrontation at all, but his father made it clear that Armando was not welcome among them, and should consider all of them dead. His mother couldn’t even look at him. A devastated Armando came to live with Rosita and her abuela. They revealed their gifts to him and Armando grew very close to Rosita’s abuela. She was an exceptional healer and used her gifts to soothe his grief at the loss of his family in regular sessions. After the incident that cost Rosita’s abuela her life, Armando’s body developed psy-talents of its own, and he joined Rosita in her efforts to make their city a safer place for all of its inhabitants.
Abilities: Telekinetic super-strength and durability. Armando can reinforce his bodily tissues with telekinetic energy, surrounding himself with a skintight field that protects him from harm, and reinforcing his muscle and skeletal tissues to give him super-strength. Thus far he has been unable to project his TK energy outside of his own body.

    GUAPO_REDUX.png

And just a bit on their current events and how they fit into the story:

Armando had been living in the Lopez household for a few years when it happened. An intruder, an ordinary thief, had broken into the house to steal whatever he could grab. Armando happened to be awake and startled him. Without thinking the intruder fired off several rounds, hitting Armando in the chest. Rosita rushed downstairs to find Armando bleeding to death. In her rage and grief she lashed out at the intruder and erased his mind, falling into a catatonic state at this powerful use of her abilities. Abuela Lopez used the full extent of her ‘sight’, infusing Armando’s body with psychic energy and replenishing his body with her own life-force. Armando was fine, but Abuela Lopez had expended too much energy. She lingered for a few days, imparting the last of her knowledge and expertise on the ‘sight’ and begging them not to feel guilt. Her time had come.

After she died, Rosita couldn’t bear to live in that house anymore, her psychometry constantly triggering memories for her. Armando’s resuscitation had unintended side effects, Abuela Lopez’s life energy and the psychic force she infused his body with had unlocked his latent psy-potential, and given him telekinetically reinforced strength and durability. Rosita and Armando decided to open up an investigative practice, working as private investigators for hire to help the downtrodden and oppressed in their city. They rented out a building in East LA. They had barely settled in when Rosita had a premonition. A brother and sister were coming to Los Angeles from the south, and they were bringing a terrible evil with them…

Very nice! I’ve never seen a truck driver superhero. My dad drives a big rig for a living, so this really made me smile. :)
