Christi SParticipantIn case I haven’t said it before Herr; I adore your reviews/gradings/breakdowns/critiques/what-have-you. They always have me looking back over the pieces involved n seeing things I didn’t before. Plus, there’s always at least one-or-two one-liners in there that have me chortling lol!
Anywho, yalls items:
Deadline:
9/19 11:59PM PST
Judgment criteria:
1. Composition: The overall quality of the style/technique used in the piece. 2 points!
2. Element Composition: How well the items were used/fit in to the piece. 3 points!
3. Creativity: How well the items were MISUSED in the piece. 3 points!
4. Aesthetics: Which piece I think just has the better overall finished product. 1 point!
Christi SParticipantOh good, I’m so glad to hear that! ^_^
Christi SParticipantEntry for CDC 336 “Below the Surface”
Christi SParticipantThat is confusing.
The only other things I can think of are colors and position.
If you previously colored an item from the same category, that will be applied to the next item you add from that category so after trying what I already suggested, if you still don’t see it, check to make sure its not a color thats just blending in or set to transparent or something.
Also, rotation/position is transferred onto the next item added from a category. Also, some items default position is relative to the position of items form other categories, I think (such as nose to head). Sometimes this effects different items significantly differently, such that the item could be coming in off-screen. Again, after trying all the previous steps, maybe try going to the Transform tab and click “reset” on the rotation and position to see if that makes it show up?
So sorry you’re having such a frustrating experience; hope this helps!
Christi SParticipantFeelin the creative juices this weekend, so here’s one I did just for fun and to challenge myself with a difficult pose!

Christi SParticipant“Robin Who?”
First off, reference photo: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img924/5369/loX3hQ.jpg
Next, got all the items for the pose positioned on more-or-less the right spot and layer.
Then cleaned up the pose by masking onto insignia shapes and adjusting position/layer where needed.
Gave him a base skin color, hid the masking shapes, cleaned up linework I didn’t like by hiding it behind solid-colored insignia shapes, and added a little detailing here and there.
Added tattoos, shorts, hair, and accessories, mostly by masking directly onto the body pieces. But a few were just placed over or masked onto insignia shapes again.
Filled in the rest of the elements with their base color schemes and once again cleaned up the image by hiding the insignias used for masking.
Highlighted/shaded with gradient background items.
Threw up a simple background n called it good!
Christi SParticipant@christi S- Photobucket has paywalled their users, meaning that, unless you pay them a couple of hundred dollar fee, you can’t share any pictures you host on there anymore. I couldn’t even see your picture on photobucket because it came up with a message that said you had to enable third party hosting in order for me to see it instead. If you’d have linked the picture from the CDC back to here, you’d have been fine (and probably have won tbh, your picture is amazing).
Ah, I see. Well, thats unfortunate. But noted, I will steer clear of Photobucket (and make a point of reading CDC instructions for possible changes lol) from here on out n just stick to hosting images directly on HM for CDCs.
N aw, thanx btw! I had a lotta fun makin this one, just leanin into all the spy-movie tropes n comin up with the puns for the gadget names =P
Christi SParticipantYikes. Nix on Photobucket, CS! They put it in the new instructions for the blog contest entries. Have a look. Photobucket betrayed us all. I’m beginning to shift to Dev-art, but I’m a slow learner and am way behind.
Oh, whoops! Just so used to the CDC instructions bein the same copy-pasted stuff I didn’t bother checkin! Whahahappen to photobucket? I haven’t used it in forever but the latest versions of tinypic and imageshack don’t let you create an image link that maintains the file-name… I was actually using it to try and FOLLOW the rules (ie: [username]-[charactername].[filetype]) LMAO!
Christi SParticipantSuper belated on my part but the image link you’re using appears to be broken FunkMachine so alas, I canna see your wrestler cavalry nor their boojie fans 🙁
Christi SParticipantOff the top of my head, my guess is your dealing with one of two issues.
1. You don’t have ‘multiples’ turned on. In the top right hand corner of the item display window there is an option to select either “Multiples” or “Singles”. You have to switch to multiples for any item category where you plan on using more than one piece.
2. You’re actually adding the items just fine and just not seeing them. This happens to me all the time with facial features. Either they’re too small to notice or, adding them later in work on my piece, the layer they’re automatically inserted into is hidden by items already in the image. Easiest fix imo is, after clicking on the item you want to add and making sure multiples is on; if you don’t see it appear immediately, while still having that item selected, go to the “Transform” tab. First, click on the top-right button of the four buttons under “layers” to bring it to the top. Second, Increase the size to like 300/400% (you can make it smaller again once you’ve found it lol).
Christi SParticipantHeyall! I’m back! Didja miss me? ;D
Anywho, here’s my entry!
“Manmooth Shaman”
Far predating their distant cousins, the werewolves, the manmooths were the result of a prehistoric shaman’s spell. Cast to protect his clan during the ice age, it allowed them to take on the aspect of woolly mammoths. And it worked; his people survived through to the great thaw. However, by that point, the magic was so deep in their blood as to be irreversible and hereditary, which is why manmooths walk the earth to this day.
Top and hair make up his headdress, and the insignia serves as the head of his staff.
Christi SParticipant“Agent Couture”
Did the basic pose first, masking onto insignia shapes where needed.
Then did the same to add accessories/details/clothes/etc.
Next I hid the insignia shapes and did the base color for everything.
To finish the character herself, I used gradient background items to add highlighting/shading.
Repeated the first four steps on making her gadgets.
For the finished product, I added text from the fonts category, graph-directs made of insignia shapes, and colored/patterned the background.
Christi SParticipantBeen away for awhile, too busy for HM 🙁
But got a lil free time on my hands now (tho possibly only for now) so I’m jumping back in while I can!

And an entry for One Part, Many Characters “Manmooth Shaman”
Christi SParticipantDo you have an idea for the cavalry?
In my mind there wrestling team by day and by night they rush to the rescue of others chasing off muggers and walking drunks home.
I have CHAPTERS worth of still-evolving headcanon for The Cavalry hahah! I love that you immediately zeroed in on the characters that I had intended to basically be the lynchpin to the whole story and everyone else’s plotlines lmao!
So just run with whatever vibe you get off of em! Whole point here is to see other people’s takes anyway! ^_^
