Here is Stellar (Cosmic):
I think I’m going to redo Stellar (Science). Compared to Magic and Cosmic, I’m just not as happy about her look, especially the pig tails.
Another B&W sketch…this time of the magic version of Stellar:
I went back to the original costume and made her more muscular since she is more of a fighter than a projectile blaster.
Okay…I know I should be working on the comic I promised but I’m easily distracted. I was looking at some Art Adams stuff and got inspired to do the three Stellars in his style. Wait…did I just say three? Yes, I had renamed one to Nightmare Hunter but it just more fun to have multiple Stellars. Also, my science hero, Clara Goodall, is the third Stellar, so there you go.
I have a preliminary sketch of Clara, aka Stellar (Science), which is very different from the original. My plan is to have all three in a circle where you would see the back of the other two. Also, I’d like to have it where I have three pictures total where each one is getting a turn to face forward.
It’s taken me a couple of months, but I finally got the cover done.
As promised, here’s the formal introduction:
Nimu – exiled Northlander by her sister, Queen Galinda because of a prophecy that declared Nimu would be the inheritor of the Golden Power. She is the greatest fighter of her people, possibly all Sumina, and as strong as a Necran. She is only beginning to experience the Golden Power coursing through her which giver her some healing abilities. Strong leader but limited experience her new power.
Devla – from the Necra tribe, far southwest of the Highlands. The Necrans are taller and stronger than the Northlanders as a rule and known to communicate with the dead. In fact, they are known for their Dance of the Dead ceremony where they supposedly gain great magical power from the nether world. Devla, the Necrans most powerful warrior-mage, has been both an ally and enemy to Nimu depending on what suits her purpose. Only joined the group because the dead are restless, and she trusts no one. She has some respect for Nimu.
Sorrell – aka Crimson Raider, a mixed race of Northlanders, Necrans, and Elves (who no longer exist) and live in the Twilight Copse. They are usually referred to as half-elves. Sorrell is a skilled archer and thief. Mysterious, keeps to herself, doesn’t say much, but is quick to anger.
Apiyo – from an ancient warrior tribe in Central Africa who train their entire lives. She is the first to pass the fire trials in 500 years which allows passage to Sumina. Apiyo fights with a “swinging spear”. Her ancestor was the last to cross over and fought with Neela, an ancestor of Nimu’s. Wise beyond her years, extremely tough and quick.
Qi Sun – a musical prodigy from Japan whose music is magical. She accidentally created a portal to Sumina and has been trapped there since. The youngest and amazed by everything.
Here’s the next fantasy group character, the conjurer Timor.
A Dark Elf cursed with Scare Face – anyone who sees her face will lose their mind with fear. Timor leaves her face covered. It comes in handy in a fight but doesn’t work on all monsters. In the picture she’s conjuring a dungeon map and compass.
Here’s my Thief/Hunter, Crimson Raider:
She’s an archer with a magical bow that never runs out of arrows.
Oops, I left a box in the background…oh well.
Redesigning Nimu inspired me to create an entire fantasy team. Since I’m a huge fan of the Bard’s Tale series, my characters will be based loosely on the classes found in those games. I think I’ll do a team of five with Nimu as the leader where she’s a combined Paladin/Warrior.
The next one in the group is Aerie, half-elf monk, which is currently in black & white:
Aerie has been raised since birth to be a living weapon and was made a part of the team upon her training completion. As a monk, she uses no hand-held weapons or armor. In fact, she barely wears anything at all. Her particular cult practices sun worship, so when Nimu appeared with her golden power, Aerie practically worshiped her. She’ll do just about anything to impress Nimu.
I’ll have this colorized in my next post but I loved the black & white so much I had to post it.
Another old favorite, the scantily clad Nimu, the Golden Warrior:
Although displaced from her current dimension, she always has a sunny disposition. Nimu wields a magical mace/sword and wears extremely protective bikini armor. She also extremely strong and an expert fighter.
Been a while…I’ve tried to enter the last couple of contests but can never finish. I did however, complete a remake of an old hero for my Anime line. Welcome back Metal Streak.
Dr. Emily Silver, aka Metal Streak, is credited with helping several heroes with the gear and costumes and is directly responsible for saving Red Bat’s life. The nanos used on Red Bat have been greatly upgraded and, using herself as a test subject, injected into Dr. Silver. She can form a protective skin around her entire body, which enhances her already strong physique and give her the ability to fly. Due to a laboratory accident many years prior, she wears a prosthetic arm which can morph into various item, including a gun or blade.
Next Up, and possibly the last new character for a while, Angel Fire:
Angel Fire can conjure holy fire that is able to burn through any material and bring fear to some and blessings to others. She tends to be a little holier than thou.
Another character with minimal shading and based on a Red Sonja pose with some inspiration from Batwoman.
