Mac Kevinson was once an assistant technician at Sphinx Foundation, working as an apprentice to an array of genius scientists in the development of new and improved technologies. One day, he fell in love with one of those scientists, Dr. Lenore Phillips. They had a love affair that was quickly discovered by management. Both were immediately fired from their positions at Sphinx, but Mac was able to steal a special suit that Lenore had been working on before their termination. She was delighted and they moved into a small apartment together where she could improve on the suit’s design. Its powers give the wearer the ability to create invisible boxes capable to containing an object of any weight and easily transport the contents to any height or distance. But someone at Sphinx discovered Lenore’s project and one night she was stealthily killed. Mac was not at home, and when he got back from work the next morning he found her body in their bed, shot through the forehead three times. He had little time to grieve, because her assailants returned. Luckily, Lenore had taught Mac how to operate the suit, and he was able to create a shield of energy and make his escape. He swore vengeance on the Sphinx Foundation, and at the same time battled evil along with his trusty suit as the superhero Chamber. Mac has since retired and acts as mentor to superhero Shield.
