Hot shot defense attorney Jim Reynolds had it all; an unmatched winning streak, a hefty paycheck, and a beautiful new wife. The main reason for Jim’s success was that he was known in the mafia underground as the lawyer who would represent anyone as long as the price was right. He had no problem representing known mob bosses and their people. But when one of these bosses had Jim’s wife killed, he decided to turn aside from his corruption and begin a life defending the innocent from those who he once fought for. His first act was to quit the mega-firm he represented and work for the city as a public defender. But then he discovered an incredible family secret; his father had been the golden age hero Chief Justice. The old man bequeathed Jim with the one thing he had kept from his heroing days – a helmet forged from ultranium, the hardest metal on Earth. Jim put together a costume and took to the streets with a bo as Defender. Not long after, he formed the super team the Defenders. Jim’s younger but bigger brother Jack has since become the hero Gavel.Pictures:

Genre: Superhero
Powers/Special Skills: uncanny aim
Special Weapons/Tools/Armor: bow and arrows
Affiliations: Black Bat; Liberator; HeroCorps
Other Aliases: none
Status: retired
Bio:
Nia Weathers was a fierce advocate for women’s and civil rights in the 60’s. When she was bludgeoned to the brink of death by an angry group of white police officers, she decided that words were not enough. Nia traveled to a remote location in China, where she was trained by an enigmatic marksman on how to hit any target with the bow and arrow. When she returned to America 15 years later, she was an almost impossible aim, and with her new-found talent she began to fight prejudice and sexism as the hero Deadeye. She joined the HeroCorps in 1971 and stayed on until 1995, when she retired from heroing. Her son is Liberator of the New Americans, the product of a short-lived relationship between Deadeye and fellow HeroCorps member Black Bat.Pictures:
