VampyristParticipantThanks guys and here is a last minute contest entry, the silver age progression of Doc Starr. On an adventure, he found a space suit which he uses to fight space crime as Starr.

VampyristParticipantA criminal hunted down and killed by Hansen, Helena Forst uses vine magic. She destroyed an entire squad, save one, before she died. She made a field of vines ensnare the troops and then made them writhe, crushing and killing the men trapped within. One soldier escaped with a shattered arm and leg and Hansen escaped without a scratch. Hansen was not happy about this. She was promptly shot.

VampyristParticipantHere is the soldier who survived, the brother of the Dragon’s Claw, Owyn Fester. Like his brother he uses spears predominately, but his summoning magic is not as strong. Above all, he is a quick thinker and very good fighter. He almost took out Helena before she writhed her vines and killed the rest of the squad. When she did, his right arm and left leg were shattered, as he had used an energy attack to keep off most of the vines.
Hansen saw the quick thinking Owyn did which saved his life and almost ended Helena and took the young soldier under his wing. He ensured that he got replacement prosthetics and made Owyn his right hand man. Owyn now serves as part of Hansen’s top squad, the Rays. He uses spears whose handles and blades can elongate to become a sword or a spear. He and Bryant have met and fought many times, always coming to a draw.

CantDrawParticipantI’m diggin’ the silver age Doc Starr. To me the silver age was the best when it came to sci-fi/space heroes. He got my vote.

VampyristParticipantThanks and here is Gwyn Josta, the deceased fiancee of Bryant Calgair. She used magic which made her fast and strong, the perfect brawler.
Her magic, however, could not protect her from Vessick’s Ignition magic, a lost form. Bryant and Gwyn were sent to stop him and Vessick fought back, igniting the area around the two King’s Guards. Bryant vector magic instinctively pushed him out of danger, but not his love. She was caught in the explosion and heavily damaged. Enraged, Bryant rushed Vessick and slashed at him, landing a mortal blow. In his last breaths, Vessick made sure to make his killer suffer by iginiting Gwyn once again. As Bryant finished the mercenary, he tried with all his might to move his beloved. He was too late.

AnarchangelParticipantThat story made me sad. But still, nice work Vamp.
July 22, 2014 at 11:14 pm #42698
VampyristParticipantThanks and it is sad, it is what drives Bryant to fight. She was devoted to justice, to doing the right thing and by fighting Wyath, he is honoring her.
Here is my modern age entry, Doc Starr in the modern age is stuck on a planet torn apart by war. As the ships fall from the sky and soldiers encroach upon him, Doc Starr does what he always does, march on.

JeimuzuParticipantDoc Starr looks awesome. I love the background, it’s killer.
July 24, 2014 at 2:06 pm #42771
VampyristParticipantThanks, the background was fun to make.
Here is Gwyn’s brother, Samael. He uses the same speed and strength magic as his sister and is also a brawler. After his sister died, he hated Bryant. He hated him with a vengeance and he often came to blows with the green blur. Aldus did what he could to separate two of his best soldiers.
Then Wyath came to power. Samael joined the rebellion, putting him again with Bryant. Conflict makes strange bedfellows. Working together, along with time, wore away the hate. In its place came respect and friendship. Bryant and Samael are now best friends.

VampyristParticipantHere is Shard, the user of Shatter, a lost magic. The magic has the ability to shatter objects violently, releasing deadly shrapnel. As it was a lost magic, repeated use of it takes a toll on the user. Cracks started to appear on his skin and with time, eventually, he, himself, would shatter.
He did so when fighting Bryant Calgair. When his most devastating move, the shattered ground, which literally causes the ground in a hundred foot radius to shatter violently upwards, did not kill Bryant, he was dying. The Shattered Ground took a lot out of him and he was cracking up. He used it to his advantage and used Shatter’s final technique: Shattered Visage. His body exploded into razor sharp shards towards Bryant. Using a vector, the King’s guard escaped with his life, but his right arm and side were cut to pieces.

VampyristParticipantBertrand is the current records keeper of the Arkanian government. He served Tristan’s parents and now Wyath. Bertrand’s magic is that of Record magic. Anything he has learned is stored away where he can later access it and project it. Seeing as runes are just images and how he has read tomes of spellbooks, this makes him possibly the most powerful man alive. He does not use this to gain power, only knowledge.
He does this out of a nobler cause than pride. His memory, his records will live on after him. Bertrand has set up access stations to his records that will activate upon his death. These records are why Bertrand does not care for whom he serves. As long as he can continue to collect information he will serve anyone. To further keep him in line, Wyath threatens the safety of the library. Bertrand would never let such information be destroyed, be lost to time, so he serves Wyath.

VampyristParticipantDeidre, like Bryant and Samael, was a member of the King’s Guard now turned rebel. She uses energy make magic to form a bow and arrow out of mana. She can also make smaller disc shaped blasts. She is a fantastic markswoman and the rebel’s long range threat.
July 26, 2014 at 4:48 am #42832
AnarchangelParticipantNice use of the tattoos as a bow. That’s cool.
July 27, 2014 at 10:20 pm #42872
VampyristParticipantThanks!
Here is Jayne Derrel, one of Hansen’s rays who uses gravity magic. She creates points of gravity that draw things towards the point or away from it.
