VampyristParticipantThank you!
Here is the tragic figure that is Jackson Cole. He was originally a hero with technopathy and some superintelligence. This changed when he was infected with nanites when on a mission.
Originally, this worked out fine as his technopathy allowed him to control them. The nanites gave him enhanced strength and allowed him to use his tech at will, leading him into his second costume.
Unfortunately, the more that he used the nanites, the stronger they became. Eventually, they were stronger than he was and they began to take control of him. The nanites influenced Jackson to seek out power and as a result, he became the supervillain, Techlord. The nanites grow stronger every day and have slowly started converting Jackson’s body into machinery. The man who once ruled technology has become ruled by it.

VampyristParticipantI’ve been watching a lot of DS9 recently, so I made another crew member of the Jakhun. Here is security chief Ino. She is a Cronii, a race known as the greatest hunters in the galaxy. She has seen a lot of conflict, which has made her cynical and gruff. She is an intimidating presence aboard the ship and if she is after you, you should probably surrender.

VampyristParticipantHere is Cara Sato, student of the Institute who can generate spears made of mystical energy. She fights crime as Lancer. Surprisingly, as a hero, she is fun and always seeking thrills, but as a person, she is serious and cynical.

JR19759KeymasterLove both of her designs. The mask on the hero costume is especially awesome and I love her demenour in her casual clothes.
One thing I have noticed though is that the insignia on her shirt is a layer above her hair and they overlap. Tiny thing, but it’s noticable given how big the picture is.

VampyristParticipantThanks! Here is Terror, a villain who gains strength from the fear around him.

KericParticipantTerror~ SO not MY cup of tea, but, great use of the skull for the background!

VampyristParticipantThanks! Here is Rico Herrera, street name of Electric. He is the leader of of a mutant gang and has electric powers. He often throws a switchblade using his powers, like a railgun. He is ruthless, accepting no slack in his organization. The gang has taken over a smaller street gang which sold drugs with the powered gang operating as muscle and protection while the nonpowered members act as dealers.

VampyristParticipantHere are two more members of the gang and Electric’s right and left hand.
Christopher Varga or Chrysalis is a mutant who has an impenetrable second skin and minor superstrength. His body also creates a couple of layers of normal skin above the armored layer so he appears normal except when damaged. His armor can survive bullets, fire, and is durable to energy attacks. He is the main muscle of the gang, his impenetrability making him the perfect fighter. He seems to enjoy fighting and has yet to find an opponent who can best him, except for maybe Rico.
Wallace Cathey or Calc is the brains of the operation. Wallace has a superhuman ability to store knowledge, which in combination with his already genius level intellect has made him one of the smartest men on the planet. He uses this gift to coordinate the financials and day to day operations of the gang. He is also less violent than his two friends, preferring to stay away from the combat of street life.

Herr DParticipantHey, can Lancer do things besides spears? Can she USE them as other things? Those facets together could make some very interesting subplots . . . nice work on Chrysalis.
May 31, 2017 at 11:16 pm #145673
VampyristParticipantThanks and Lancer can only make spears and only of that particular shape, however she can use them for other purposes and adjust the length of the pole. A common thing she’ll do is use them to help with gymnastic fighting techniques (pole vaulting, using them for a spinning kick, etc.). She also can use them to do things like climb buildings by using the spears as climbing picks.
Here is a contest entry, a white mage. In this world, there are several magical orders, each order signified by a color. The black order represents darkness and death, the red order represents fire and anger, and so on. The white order represents life and light and is in a constant struggle with those of the black cloth. This is a standard white mage, an adept with light spells such as the orb of blinding light he is creating here.

Herr DParticipantHmm. The white mages–human? You might darken the forward hand and cuff. Only unicorns shouldn’t cast a shadow, for they are made of the light? Good picture anyway.

AnarchangelParticipantThe white mage has a very interesting look.
Nice work. 🙂

VampyristParticipantThanks everyone!
Here is Luther Cross, a former superhero and current team leader of SPARO, the american superhuman black ops agency. He has the power to control magnetism, which he uses to manipulate metal. He was once married to a fellow hero. As a symbol of their love, they had their rings enchanted to be indestructible. She was killed by a villain’s death ray and all that remained of her was her ring.
His wife’s death drove Luther to become angry and more violent. After nearly murdering a couple criminals, SPARO stepped in and offered him a job. They figured that his now more violent tendencies could be used to stop extreme threats. Luther accepted and his experience as a hero led him to become team leader of the assault team. To attack he uses his wife’s ring as a projectile, which can accurately and quickly kill his enemies. (Think Yondu’s quill)

VampyristParticipantHere is the Cadets, a former superhero team made up of young heroes. They are made up of the flying/superstrong/invulnerable leader Kid Paragon, the intangible Phase, the prankster telepath Psych, fellow jokester snow golem Snowball, and the no nonsense supergenius Gadget.
The team broke apart five years ago when during the fight with a mad scientist, Snowball perished. This event caused the team to go their separate ways. Psych would become darker and join SPARO for a time as Psyche. Kid Paragon would become Paragon and continue being a superhero. His girlfriend, Phase was mentally scarred by the fight and would retire for a couple years before returning as Spectra. Gadget would retire from superheroics and become a tinkerer for the BSH.

VampyristParticipantHere is the former leader of the cadets, Paragon. Kyle Madison is superstrong, can fly, and is mostly invulnerable. He is the unflappable type, taking most everything in stride and adapting quickly to new situations. The only thing he reacts to poorly is confined spaces as a childhood experience of being locked in a chest for a day has left him severely claustrophobic. Through the help of his now wife, Paige, he has mostly overcome this fear.
He was the only one of the cadets to stay a superhero immediately after their friend snowball’s death. Paige was too traumatized from her year in a hell dimension to continue fighting crime. Kyle understood and helped her recover in his down time. Formerly Kid Paragon, Kyle now fights crime as Paragon, a symbol for justice. His experience as the leader of the cadets has made the young hero into a leader figure in the hero community, with young heroes looking to him for guidance.
