Timedrop23ParticipantAwesome shading
Thanks, JR!
Thought I’d share a pose here I made for the next character I’m working on.
Just like I always wanted to do a surfer pose, I always wanted to do a “Haaaaaaadooooooooken!’ pose, so I made a female version of AMS’s pose #8, modified for maximum “Haaaaaadooooooooken!” powah!!!!!Help on doing that “click to download code” thing in the new forums would be much appreciated so that I can share the HM3 code for this with you as well.

Timedrop23ParticipantGreat work! Love the posing, costumes, shading and stories. My favorite may be Greece: Heather Stevens (Hearth/Hestia) Hestia being our Matron Goddess on the hall altar I’ll keep checking in with you to see what other awesomeness you’ve done.
Thanks, cliff! Deep in the forums there should be an old thread with Heather’s bio in it, but I have already decided to retcon her and the rest of my Olympian characters when I get to them. The general idea is that the original Olympian Twelve passed their powers on to mortals and left our dimension in the face of changing times. These empowered mortals (the “New Olympians,” most of whom grew up in and around Olympia, WA) are going to be like my X-Men team, whereas Clockwork is more of an Avengers-style group. You will meet the New Olympians at some point after I re-hash Clockwork’s Plague event, which has brought to light the presence of beyond-natural beings in our world. Holding facilities have been erected around the world to contain those who are unable to control their abilities, one of which will turn out to be the residence of Heather Stevens, codename “Hearth.” As the unifying member of the as-yet-unformed team, Hearth has the ability to mimic or amplify the powers of other Olympian-gifted individuals when she is in proximity to them and/or thinking about them. So far, being near too many New Olympians at a given time has proven taxing on her psyche and renders her incapable of focusing the power she gains from them.
That’s a nice pose! I tried to pull it off with my fire warrior, too. It’s not easy and I applaud your effort!
I’m honestly not going to try to put much intricacy or effort into my new Elemental Witch. Just your basic skin-tight suit in a German flag palette with my usual level of shading. And maybe some fishnet lightning bolt cut-outs. And an electric “haaaaaaaaadooooooooooooken!” 🙂

cliffParticipantIt al sounds awesome! I can’t wait to see it.
October 20, 2014 at 4:00 pm #113631
Timedrop23ParticipantTold you it wouldn’t be very long!
Straight from Germany, here is the Elemental Witch of Electricity, Ginger Krieg:
Name: Blitz
Alias: Ginger Krieg
Team Affiliation: Coven of Strom
Enemies: Coven of Iarann, Coven of Tonnta, Jeanine van Dark, Society of Foes, William Ernst (Power Suit), the B.R.I.D.E.
Race: Human
Birthplace: Berlin, Germany
Powers/Abilities: Electrokinesis, Superhuman agility and reflexes, Natural hand-to-hand fighter.
Bio: Ginger Krieg was born into the Coven of Strom, a group of electricity-manipulating witches given their power by an unusual concentration of Knavium-enriched copper (the same alloy William Ernst’s suit is composed of) in their blood.
Strom Witches have the ability to ionize the air around them and focus it into energy blasts, constructs, or concentrate it near their skin, enabling them to fly. Being in tune with electricity has also had an effect on their metabolism, enhancing their speed and healing time, making them the perfect warriors. Coven Supremes are said to be able to summon electrical storms from the Earth’s atmosphere.
Late in the war, Ginger took a job as an electrical engineer at HallowGen in an effort to get close to Tempora, the last surviving time witch whom she was assigned to kill. The explosion that crippled Frank and led to Greta Holz becoming Redwulf also provided Ginger with the opening she needed to ingratiate herself with her target’s son. Frank promoted her to a supervisory position on the P.A.T.C.H. project, and she proved instrumental in the design and implementation of the suit’s offensive capabilities (which, to a limited degree, replicate her own powers).
She has teamed with Frank and his allies on several occasions, inconveniently sidelining her assassination attempts to deal with attacks by Power Suit, the B.R.I.D.E., and the Holz twins, among others.October 20, 2014 at 5:55 pm #113637
amsParticipantLooks great! The only suggestion I would give is try and get the hands more visible. Make it like she is holding the lightning ball to show that she has full control of her power. With a little masking, it should be accomplishable.
Cheers!
October 21, 2014 at 7:02 pm #113685
LimeParticipantBlitz is awesome, nice movement pose, and I especially like the cutout zigzag. I would say, though, I’d think her left breast (from her POV) would be under her arm rather than over it. It’s not impossible to get one’s arms under one’s breasts like that, but it feels a little awkward and not especially comfy. Also, with her one shoulder up and the other down, the breasts might tilt a little to follow that slope as well. Otherwise, fantastic!
October 23, 2014 at 10:28 pm #113794
StulteParticipantBad. Ass.
The energy effects is really amazing, great use of both items and lighting.
By the way, I already stole that pose for my current project 😛
October 26, 2014 at 2:34 am #113901
Timedrop23ParticipantThank you all.
@Stulte: Go ahead and steal it. I stole it first and gender swapped it (plus I put the code up so you pretty much can’t NOT steal it).I am lazy and unfocused, so weird boob layering and visible hands will have to wait indefinitely. I am pondering a gender-swap of the Iron Man landing pose for a future character as well.
November 1, 2014 at 1:27 pm #114187
Timedrop23ParticipantThere is so much more I could have done with this character in terms of effects and shading the clothing, but I like it. Sometimes you just have to get the concept out there.
In this case, I was trying to make a version of Dorothy Gale that was true to the original, but also a fresh character. Thinking of her as DOROTHY GALE led me to several unoriginal false starts. Suddenly, I had this image in my head of her wearing feathers, and I made up my mind to do a Native American Dorothy. I’d never done a Native American character before, and with my initial plan to use Dorothy as the basis for my Elemental Witch of the Air, it just felt right to me. Here’s Dorothy Windrider, Iroquois shamaness of the Air:
Name: Windrider
Aliases: Dorothy Windrider, Dorothy Gale, Ataen
Team Affiliation: The Iroquois Nation, Heaven
Enemies: Theodora Kindle, Society of Foes, Robbie Boyle, Fifth Hour, Mad Jack
Race: Human
Birthplace: Seneca, New York
Powers/Abilities: Possesses a piece of Ataensic (a Knavium-rich meteorite which gives her wind-manipulation abilities, such as flight and compressed-air concussion/cutting blasts), Skilled in the ancient Iroquois mystic arts.
Bio: Long ago, a meteorite crashed into the Earth, bringing with it a strange substance wrought elsewhere in the heavens. First discovered by a tribe of Seneca Iroquois during a bloody land dispute with neighboring factions, the Seneca people believed it to be a gift from their sky goddess (hence the name Ataensic), and had it divided evenly among the tribes as a gesture of peace. Since then, those judged worthy of the title of Ataen (a tribal shaman tasked with maintaining balance and open communication with Ataensic, the Sky-Woman) inherited the meteorite fragment, which gave the bearer power over the air.
Now, rites of initiation have given way to simple family inheritance.
With no immediate family, Dorothy Gale was adopted by Emma and Henry Windrider, her aunt and uncle who lived on the Allegany Reservation, a plot of government-sanctioned Iroquois land in her birth state of New York. Life on the Reservation was peaceful, until the Windriders were killed in an attack by Lasair mercenaries. Who authorized the apparent assassination of her family (and most of the Allegany population) and why is still unclear, but it led Dorothy to discover an Ataen amulet, along with a note and a diary in her aunt’s handwriting, hinting at some kind of conspiracy regarding the meteorite fragments. Dorothy has since become an avid student of Iroquois history and mysticism, and embarked on a journey through her ancestors’ tribal lands in search of any other surviving Ataen. Thoughts of the conspiracy have made her wary of Dr. Jack Card (later known as the vigilante Mad Jack) and his team of scientists (the trio who would become Fifth Hour). In her travels, Dorothy has also come to blows with Lasair mercenary Theodora Kindle and the recently revived Robbie Boyle, a vicious railroad tycoon who died in the Old West.
An unexpected side-effect of her mystic dabblings would prove to be a connection to the realm of Heaven, bringing her into contact with the angel Temeluchus, who would serve as her spirit guide and later father her a child.November 1, 2014 at 2:38 pm #114191
JR19759KeymasterI think what you did with the shading is fine. It’s very smooth and natural.
