JR19759KeymasterOk guys, it’s December, so its time for another Santa Swap. As with last year, you write a list, you get presents and you give presents in return.
Again, there are a few rules which can you please refer to when you are making your list. And they are:
-Each person who participates must put up a list of 5 ‘presents’ that they’d like to receive
-If you receive a present you must give a present back
-If you make a custom pose/item/background as a present include the text string so the person receiving the gift can use it
-If you receive a custom pose/item/background you obliged to use it at some point during the time the Santa Swap is taking place but post usage onto your own thread and mark out that it was from the Santa Swap (exceptions will be made for those who get gifts in the last few days before the thread closes)
-Don’t ask a specific machinist to give you a present, whilst they may be happy to do it, you’re excluding others from giving that gift.
-You can ask for hand drawn items if you wish, just don’t expect them to be done.
-If your list is completed, it’s up to you to tell people if you want them to carry on giving you stuff off your first list (if you ask for redesigns and stuff like that) or if you want them to give you other stuff, in which case you can put up an extra present on your list. This isn’t a contest per say, it’s just a fun way of getting into the spirit of the season, heromachine style. The thread is open from today (1st December) until Christmas Eve, so you have plenty of time to put up your list and start giving.
So, yeah, my list is below.

JR19759KeymasterYeah, that’s pretty much exactly what I wanted Linea, awesome.
Heres that bow tutorial you asked for. Bearing in mind this is only my way of doing it, other people might have better ways.
1. Start off by getting the basic pose you want, for the purposes of this tutorial I’ve just gone for a basic sideways draw (obviously bare minimum, because it’s only a tutorial, but this technique should work for more complex positions).
2. Next thing you are going to need to do is get rid of the original bow string. To do this start off by masking another arm to an insignia over where the bow string crosses the first arm. That way you don’t have to worry about weird layering.
3. Now we get rid of the string properly. Use a large scale insignia to cover over the majority of the string (which is why we layered/ masked another arm on top of the bow string originally), then use circles to do the bit where the string meets the bow. You’ll have to size differently to fit the different bows here. After you’ve finished match the insignia colour to your background colour (in this case white).
4. Now we are ready to start making the new bow string. Get another square/ rectangle insignia and line it up with where the bow string originally attached to the bow and then angle it so it makes a straight line to the pulling hand (this will take a bit of trial and error).
5. Make the insignia 1 pixel thin and then lengthen to preference (here I used 2 rectangles at 1-200 which fitted perfectly) and layer the rectangle under the pulling hand.
6. Finally, do the same for the upper part of the string, only with the insignia layered above the hand and placed so it ends where the grip of the hand is.
Hope it’s ok for you.
December 1, 2013 at 3:42 pm #33994
Linea24ParticipantGlad you like the pose, and thanks a lot for the tutorial. It’s really going to help me with future pictures of Linea and company.
December 2, 2013 at 7:15 am #34012
CantDrawParticipantHere’s my list:
1. Ideas for more Red Bat villians.
2. Ideas for more fantasy characters that will be a part of Sumina-verse.
3. Redesign of Oro:
Extremely powerful and villianous other-dimensional creature that was once human. The only limit is your imagination.4. A wintery background
5. A non-Heromachine picture you’d like to have done in Heromachine, preferrably a character.JR, give me a couple of days and I should have something Christmassy for you, something of a fairy nature…
December 2, 2013 at 2:56 pm #24444
CantDrawParticipantJR, here’s your Christmassy gift (got it done a little faster than I thought):
December 3, 2013 at 2:48 am #34027
JR19759KeymasterWow, that’s awesome Cantdraw, dunno if I can compete with that, but I’ll try.
I had a go at Oro. I sort of took the evil other dimensional entity thing and ran with it. I liked the idea that maybe because of his power he might have been imprisoned (as evil entities always are) and I didn’t want to lose that logo, so I made a pic of him before he has regained his full form, just as he is escaping from his prison. Hope you like it.
December 3, 2013 at 5:01 am #34031
Linea24ParticipantHey Cantdraw, by non-HeroMachine can it be a drawing? (just realized how ironic that sentence is) I have two for you.
If you’re wanting a challenge:
If you do not want to deal with doing a cat:
December 3, 2013 at 7:16 am #34039
CantDrawParticipantThank you JR! He is truly evil-looking. I never thought of him being imprisoned, but I like it and will now make a part of his story, one that hasn’t been totally revealed, yet. Also, I’m glad you kept the symbol since it’s an important part of who he is.
Linea – challenge accepted! I may take a couple of liberties but an animal is great way to test my abilities. BTW, I’ll try to make the pose. The hard part is the bend & butt area, but I’ve got an idea.
December 3, 2013 at 9:15 am #34045
Herr DParticipantLinea? I really shouldn’t have looked at your list. I got your #5 stuck in my head. I’ve extracted it, below:
Lola Leilani’s lovely luau looked zany as Zuni the Zombie Pig practically pillaged the whole place. Then Pineapple Joe, the wackier whacker of Waikiki wiped him out.http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u438/jamais5/2013hm/PineappleJoe_zps92dcad0d.png
I’m not touchin’ that apple.
********
Let me know if that counts. If it does, this is my list, and I’ll look up how to give you the text again.1. Enforcer KF2 mid-leap over a crowd. Description: human in power armor (grays and beiges with ‘KF2′ on back, front, and one arm, with five-muzzle shoulder gun of roughly .50 caliber) armor allows 20′ high, 30’ long jumps. He’s basically a good and streetwise cop in a mining penal colony in large asteroid tunnels.
2. Custom background: laundromat with some machines visible.
3. Custom pose of Tarzan swinging from vine.
4. Scene of cat, dog, or hamster sneeze blowing a car off the street from their carrier or cage, etc.
5. Custom backgrounds: scenic European-style windmill or suspension bridge (principle but not necessarily style of Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran.)All the images I put up have been covered. All my original list is covered, too. Alternates could be a suspension bridge from the side, end to end; perspective of the tops of two washing machines, one to the left pristine and one to the right crumpled– size about the bottom left eighth or so of the standard panel; other scenes from “The Show Must Go Off;” and I’m open to suggestions.
December 3, 2013 at 5:00 pm #34059
CantDrawParticipantLinea, here’s the pose you requested:
I’ll post the text this evening. I’m in a bit of a rush and can’t remember how to do it off the top of my head.
