HammerknightParticipantCool character. Welcome to the forums.

Kaylin88100ParticipantGreat start, and welcome! However, the red and black character sort of blends into the red and black background, especially in the top half where there’s less white to break it up. It’s a cool background, but I think it distracts the eye from the equally cool character. Maybe you could tone it down a little, or just post a version with no background?

I agree with toning down the color saturation of the background a bit, but I actually like the three-color concept. It looks very graphic, almost like a propaganda poster or 1960s novel cover. A possible solution is to insert the rectangle gradient from the last page of Backgrounds Shapes between the figures and the background. Increase the size so it covers the whole canvas; use, say, 15% gray for all the colors, and reduce the alphas for all colors to around 10%. Another possibility is to add a white outline around the figures.
Or you could ignore me and enjoy your piece as is, because it’s pretty good.

proofMembermy next creation
real name: traxx lichneste-hazage / khkotial (martian)
known as’: trax
origin/powers: khkotial was a martian lab test subject but unsure what for. he was 18 when he crash landed on earth during a failed earth scout misson. he was then found unconscious by orm’s (maver) parents in 1980. and shortly after adopted by them. he was given the name traxx and became mavers half brother. traxx’ powers manifested when he struggled to adjust to earths atmosphere. he gained accelerated muscle growth and bone density, enhanced agility and balance. he has shown to be able to control or negate inertia often seen turning quickly while moving at fast speeds, and can dodge most things with ease. because of his obvious difference in appearance he has been kept hidden away since his unfortunate arrival but there are some government agencies that know of his existence. to earths benefit, he has used his powers for the good of mankind in helping serve a greater purpose. in saying that he has allied himself with mars enemy and has to prepare himself to fight his own kind somewhere in the future. he is currently venturing towards the Nepal territory in search of peace and study.
appearance: other than his grey skin, trax has a blue fluorescent glow around him that gives him a cool blue effect when he is in motion. his eyes change colour from black, reddish pink and bright yellow.1st trax
2nd trax
3rd trax
4th trax
headshots
note: the faces of all four versions of trax are different. what one do you like the most?
March 14, 2014 at 2:36 pm #38838
Herr DParticipantBy far I like the fourth face the most, and the fourth overall the least. The other three faces I have trouble picking a second–but I like the overall in this order. 1, 3, 2, 4. The hair and hidden lower face seem to greatly improve the character even though I don’t like the grid background with him. Btw, I have some photographs you must have signed–

proofMemberthanks Herr D, its always good to get others opinions as is always a little harder to form my own on which i like better when i made them and like them all. I like your choice and agree too that i like the 1st pic w/out the grid background but didnt like the face. and after rearranging the looks and not being able to change the face along with it i decided just to leave it how it ended up. I like the 4th face too. and not sure what yo mean by signing your photographs, but if you mean that i like your characters you create then yes, i have visited your thread and liked many but not sure how i mustve signed them.
anyway, here is a quick character my brother came up with so i thought id post it and take any good comments it might garner.
name: toxion
cat: sticky
powers: exhales a poisonous nerve gas. can also fly short distances. sticky the cat has no power except to be immune to toxions poisonous gases.March 14, 2014 at 5:22 pm #38841
Herr DParticipantMy sense of humor isn’t always clear. When you get photograph samples to decide whether to buy them, they have ‘proof’ across them transparently.
I should ask–is that hair or the gas escaping the mask? If it’s gas, you might play with the alpha values. If it’s just odd hair, you might add some strands laying over the cat to be clear?
March 15, 2014 at 12:29 am #38846
proofMemberoh i never actually knew that about photograph samples. and if i had i still wouldve missed your humorous quip but thanks Herr D for trying to share a laugh with me i appreciate it.
and its hair in the photo but i wouldnt know how to add layers of hair strands over the cat.

Herr DParticipantYvw, and about the hair? There are several small hair pieces you could play with. If you feel really ambitious you might talk to Linea about making the cat look like it’s playing with the frizz. She’s our feline expert. If I was after that effect, I’d flip the cat, ‘mask off’ a paw, and add a swiping paw from HandRight. There may be a better way. Good luck.
