    Paragon

The first flagship hero of the VSU (Vaudeville Superhero Universe – I literally just made that up), Chris Petrakis is a mountainous Greco-American man who possesses  a mutant myostatin gene that grants him incredible superhuman strength, endurance, and durability. A veteran hero of some experience, all-round nice guy, and second founding member of the International Freedom League.

As one of the most recognised and popular superheroes in the world, he fights crime and threats to the Earth as ‘Paragon, the pinnacle of man.’

    The Jetman

Second on the flagship roster, Jerome Järvinen uses technology – namely a winged jetpack and suit of versatile power armour – to fight crime from the skies as ‘the Jetman’. A blonde haired, blue eyed man from Finland, this former military test pilot and current CEO of Järvinen Enterprises created the International Freedom League and recruited the other founding members.

    Mantis

Flagship hero number three, Kazuko Haraguchi was tragically orphaned in a chemical explosion in her native Japan as a child – an accident which caused her to develop infrared and ultraviolet sight, and the ability to hear ultrasound frequencies. Taken in by the Order of Divine Assassins and given genetically enhanced reflexes and agility, she was brainwashed and trained in multiple martial arts to become a mindless killing machine.

The Order’s programming was eventually undone by the Jetman after several violent encounters, and after proving herself as the hero under the name ‘Mantis’ she became a founding member of the IFL.

    The Magician

The fourth flagship hero of the VSU, James King uses technological gadgets and tricks to create seemingly magical attacks, effects, and illusions. Originally a sound technician and gambling addict working in Las Vegas, he once happened to be in the right place at the right time to stop a mugging-in-progress after a Friday night show. Obsessed with the resulting adrenaline rush ever since, he customised a bunch of props and stage equipment and became the costumed vigilante known as ‘The Magician.’

He was eventually invited to become a founding member of the IFL, where the other heroes can keep an eye on his maverick, often violent methods of dealing with criminals.

    Overmind

Despite being a talented neuroscientist at the top of his field, the African-American Noah Lawson was constantly denied funding for research into human psychic abilities. After testing an experimental neural serum on himself, he gained a superhuman intellect and an array of incredible psychic powers including; telepathy, telekinesis, psionic blasts, psychometry, and mild precognition. Although some muscle atropy caused a loss of body mass as a side effect of the serum, that didn’t stop him from becoming ‘Overmind’ – easily the most powerful of the VSU’s flagship heroes, and an indespensible founding member of the IFL.

    Solara

A gymnast and dance instructor from England, Laura Brightman has mutant genes which allow her to absorb, store, convert, and manipulate light/heat energy. Hiding her abilities into adulthood, she finally made the decision to use her powers for good when two of her students were kidnapped. Rescuing the teens, she donned the alter ego ‘Solara’ and began her crime-fighting career in and around the cities of the UK.

Even though being kept in darkness – away from any light – causes her to become weak and powerless over time, the potential of those powers at full force is almost limitless. After saving London from a supervillain attack by going full supernova, she was invited to become the youngest founding member of the IFL, and she is the sixth flagship hero of the VSU.

    Time for some villains…

    Warhead

A dangerous and unstable psychopath, Warren Hirsch is perhaps the most notorious member of the Lawless Earth Network. With the superhuman ability to absorb kinetic and thermal energy, he is incredibly difficult to take down as most direct attacks will only increase his physical strength, without causing damage. Eventually, if allowed to absorb enough energy, he can produce concussion blasts/beams, and even ‘self-detonate’ with the force of a small nuclear blast.

As ‘Warhead’, he is known to work as an enforcer, mercenary, or henchman for the highest bidder, and he loves nothing more than causing wanton death and destruction.

    Tarantula

An internationally renowned cat-burglar and career criminal, Marie Morgan has stolen countless works of art, priceless jewels, and historical artefacts for black market clients all over the world. Growing up in Australia, she developed the mutant abilities of wall-crawling, enhanced strength, agility, and reflexes, and as an adult, mutated further to grow four extra arms.

Adept at stealth, infiltration, and espionage, she is a deadly asset to the Lawless Earth Network.

    The Alley Cat

Executive nightclub owner in public, Gibson Blake leads a double life as the bounty hunter, thief, and mercenary known as ‘the Alley Cat’ for the Lawless Earth Network. By taking regular doses of a super-soldier serum obtained on the black market, his strength, agility, balance, dexterity, and reflexes are all enhanced to superhuman levels, allowing him to easily perform death-defying acrobatic feats. The serum also enhances his senses of smell and hearing to an animal-like degree.

    The Brass Bison

Using a heavily modified suit of stolen exoskeletal power-armour to augment his strength, durability, and stamina to well beyond human levels, Aleksandr Khaberov is all about brute force and heavy weaponry. An enforcer for the Lawless Earth Network, he’d rather break into a bank vault with arms and armour in broad daylight than rely on subtle or covert tactics. As ‘the Brass Bison’, he’s more than a match for most heroes, even with his relatively low intelligence.

    Monsoon

This powerful African member of the Lawless Earth Network has the ability to manipulate the winds, the rains, and the water of the oceans. From hurricane-force tropical storms and typhoons to devastating tsunamis and floods, John Kaluma Siwo has caused untold amounts of damage to towns and cities all over the world as the supervillain ‘Monsoon’.

    I.Q.

A mutant with advaced powers of telepathy and telekinesis, Englishman Isaac Quinn uses his superhuman intellect to operate the Lawless Earth Network from the shadows as the mysterious ‘I.Q.’, the criminal mastermind behind their most complex and devious schemes. His mental processes are so fast that he has almost superhuman reaction times, as well as a form of innate capability – the ability to learn, know, or understand something without needing to study it.

    Bee Girl

A gifted mechanical engineering student from Michigan, Barbara Reynolds uses a winged suit of lightweight body-armour to fight crime as ‘Bee Girl’. The suit was originally created by a group of graduate students, including Reynolds, as part of a conditional grant arrangement. After it became clear that the protective nano-fibre flightsuit was intended for nefarious military purposes, she made the suit disappear and sabotaged the project.

Sporting a new colour scheme and custom gadgetry – such as robotic bee micro-drones, a retractable ‘stinger’ blade, a communications headset, and a utility belt – she quickly became one of the youngest, but most recognisable superheroes.

    The Dark Spartan

An unassuming accountant by day, Daniel Forester fights crime by night as a costumed hero. Initially taking action against a gang of thugs terrorising his hometown, he soon gained a reputation as a vigilante cleaning up the streets of southern England. Adopting the alter-ego of ‘The Dark Spartan’, he purchased most of his customised gear from military surplus websites. With the gifts of a nearly indestructible shield, spear, and helmet from The Jetman, he quickly became a fully fledged hero at the national level.
