Anyway, I have this character that I need help with. I’m fairly happy with how he’s turned out overall but something just seems off. I haven’t shaded him yet or anything, because I wanted to get opinions on him before I finished up. So what do you guys think I could do to make him better. (I am considering changing the colours, but I don’t really want to have to pose the arms).
I agree with CantDraw about taking the visible clothing (necktie, vest) all the way up. His legs look a little short to me. Maybe extend his lower body down just a bit further.
As far as coloring: Any shading that you do I would keep minimal and on the edges. Like maybe just the top hat, shoulders, the very tips/outside edges of the cape. The flat black is really working for this guy. Great design!
mmm. I think maybe the next thing is to make a translucent rabbit/dove leaping from his hands to scratch out the viewer’s eyes. Maybe it’s a pterodactyl and banks to our right first with translucent force lines showing it’s path. That would also ‘explain’ why we can’t really see the arms. Nice one.
