JR19759KeymasterSo, 1000 posts.
I thought I’d repost my favourite creations, because I like a good list.10: Mr X RD- This was the first one that I got a tattoo effect that I thought “Yes that’s what I wanted it to look like”. I also like the custom made beard, I just wish I could remember how I did it.
9: The Titan (Sentinal Force Version)- So many different costumes for this guy, but this one is my favourite because of the shading and the gloves made from shoulder items.
8: Leopard Woman- It’s the dress. Simple as that. It just looks good.
7: The Eyes Of Azgul- Shading again, and the face (eye?) area. I had a lot of fun making this one. It’s surprisingly hard to get a convincing copper effect.
6: Queen Eagle RD- I have to thank headlessgeneral for inspiration for this design, as it was his redesign of this character that gave me the majority of the costume. But I added the mask and cape.
5: Negadroid- The feedback I got for this was amazing, so it had to be on the list. I tried to mix a human structure with more insectoid features (hence the pinched mid-section) to give him a more alien look.
4: Shade- This one’s a large one, I was trying to get everything in. The pose and the expression are the best thing here, he’s really not enjoying what’s happening to him.
3: Bia- I ripped off DiCicatriz off something chronic throughout the entire Pride series, and this one is no exception, as most of the design is taken straight from his Maid Marian design from the second FNF and his recent redesign. But I had a riot colouring and shading it. Probably the most layers I’ve ever used and each wing took half and hour to do.
2: Double Trouble- This one took aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages. Shading involved moving everything across a million times (no exaggeration). But it’s a good picture, so it was worth it. To be honest any of Pride could have gone in this list, but this is the best.
1: Psychosis RD- I took inspiration from another redesign (this time by Scatman) and just took everything to the Nth degree. Up until recently this was the most shading I’d ever done on one character and I think the effect worked really well.
So those are my favourites of the last 1000 posts, now for the next 1000. Scatman, I’m coming to get you.

JR19759KeymasterThanks man.
Haven’t been particularly inspired recently (apart from doing my stuff for the FNF) but here’s something I’ve just finished.
Alyria
Once a beautiful and magnificent queen of a ancient and magical kingdom, she became jealous of her sister, whom she ruled alongside, and had her killed in secret. When her subjects became discontent without the popular queen, Alyria cast a powerful spell to make her people love her. Whilst the spell did work, her deeds had a unknown side-effect, Alyria was eroding away her soul. She became obsessed with being adored, beginning to believe that her subjects adoration was not due to the spell. She would kill anyone who didn’t complement her on her beauty, all the while becoming less and less, until she became the demonic being seen today. Her land has now degenerated into a dark wasteland, corrupted by it’s queen’s evil, her people kept alive only to worship her, unable to grow food on the land or drink the now poisonous water.

CantDrawParticipantYou’ve created some awesome characters. Shade is one of my favorites. The lighting effects are what really set your characters apart.

JR19759KeymasterThanks guys. Alex, bet you can’t guess what inspired the skin effect on Alyria
Anyway, here’s what Alyria looked like before she killed her sister and began transforming into that demon creature.

JR19759KeymasterMaya
One of the Queens of the Manokindd, a race of elf-like magical beings, Maya ruled alongside her sister Alyria. She was the more popular of the sisters, being the more down-to-earth Queen, spending much of her time amongst the population and not spending huge amounts of time and energy on her clothes and appearance (unlike her sister). However, her sister became jealous and had Maya killed.

JR19759KeymasterAccording to Manokindd folklore, the spirits of murder victims cannot enter the afterlife until their killer is brought to justice and punished. Instead of going to the afterlife, they are sent to the dark forest, a waiting area of sorts. When Maya was murdered by her sister, she found herself in the dark forest. However, the next spirit to arrive informed her that she, nor any other spirit, would be able to escape the dark forest, as her sister had placed the land under a spell preventing them from doing anything but worshiping her. Maya was disgusted by what her sister had done and become and offered to make a deal with Cthiron, the god of life, to allow her back into the world of the living in order to end her sisters insane rule. Cthiron agreed, but instead of sending Maya back in her original form, which would have been useless against her sisters now demonic form, her sent her back as a spirit beast, a dark creature, neither living nor dead, with incredible magical powers. However, what Cthiron didn’t tell Maya is that in order to keep herself in the land of the living, she must feed off the souls of the living, taking a life every day until her quest is complete.

The Manokindd pantheon is made up of only two gods, Cthiron and Alax. Cthiron is the god of life, the seasons and disasters (such as war, famine and illness) whilst Alax is the goddess of death, the giver of magic and bringer of peace. Cthiron is cruel, unfeeling and unfair, imposing hellish trials on the Manokindd, but all of his actions are in an effort to help the Manokindd get stronger. In contrast, Alax is kind, welcoming and treats everyone equally, whether they are a king or a pauper, she frees everyone from Cthiron’s trials eventually and takes them to her palace for eternal rest.

The Atomic PunkParticipantGreat story and characters with the Manokindd. Especially the concept of the god of “life” is a sonofab!tch and the goddess of death is the angel of mercy. Some days, I can relate.
