FolklyParticipantI can’t seem to upload pictures to the forum. It was working on December 2nd when I posted Cadeyrn.png on “Bringing the Story to Life”, but something seems to have gone adrift between now and then.
What happens is, I click on “Upload Attachments” and the box appears as normal. Then I look up my picture file on my computer in an ordinary Explorer window (that’s right, isn’t it?), but when I try to drag it into the box, the cursor changes into the “you can’t drag that there” No-Entry sign. I’ve tried doing it anyway but nothing happens. Clicking on “Add Files” causes it to act as if the browser’s loading something, then it stops again with nothing to show for it. I’m using Windows Vista and Firefox 3.6.
Is anyone else getting this? I’ve been having to FTP each picture into my web space every time I want to post one, which is a pest. Anything you can do much appreciated.

JR19759KeymasterI’ve just tried it and it seems to be working for me. I’m not sure what’s going on there.

KaldathKeymasterI will bring this to Jeff’s attention, can you try another browser and see if you are having trouble with that also, or if it is just firefox?

FolklyParticipantWhoops, didn’t think of that, thanks. What Internet Explorer 9 does is: when I drag a picture file into the box, the browser displays the picture instead of the forum. However when I click on “Add Files”, that does work. So that’s one way to do it, if somewhat long-winded. Wonder what’s the matter with it?

KaldathKeymasterI have emailed Jeff and let him know of your problem, that said, I have had the best experience with the forums using Google Chrome.

AFDStudiosKeymasterOther than trying another browser I’m not sure what to suggest. Let us know what happens, if it’s still not working then I can look into it further, maybe it’s a permissions issue or something. Although in that case I’d think it wouldn’t even give you the option to try to upload something …

FolklyParticipantGreat, now Internet Explorer 9 doesn’t want to do it either! Any idea what could be causing each browser to do it the first few times, but then stop working?
@Kaldath said:I have had the best experience with the forums using Google Chrome.
Using Chrome is aiding and abetting criminals. I avoid Google’s programs like the plague anyway, they’re just so darn invasive. Google Toolbar was installed on my laptop when I bought it – three years later there are still bits of it caught in the system, they don’t seem to understand the word “uninstall” so I had to delete it by hand. And every bit of the empire is constantly trying to refer you to the others, as if I needed anything else to confuse me about the computer…

KaldathKeymasterI will pass this on to Jeff once more and see what he can uncover.

AFDStudiosKeymasterThe only thing I can think of is that there’s some kind of extension or add-on causing the problems, or that there’s something funky in your cache, because no one else is having the issue. It almost has to be something local. Like Kaldath I used Chrome, but I have Firefox installed and it’s working properly as well.
I’d start with clearing your browser cache, then disabling your extensions temporarily, and see if that helps.

FolklyParticipantOops… forgot about this forum for ages. I’ve just tried clearing the cache, on both browsers (at least, I think that’s what I did on IE9 – I’m not used to it and it has one of those don’t-worry-your-pretty-little-head-about-the-technicalities interfaces, but I cleared everything I could find). I’ve also tried disabling all the extensions that will disable, although in fact there haven’t been any new ones that I know of since the time it was working. No luck. It puzzles me because it sounds like one of those issues to me, too, now you mention it – given that it worked once for each and then stopped working. Oh well. I can host them somewhere else. Thanks for the effort.

CantDrawParticipantI get an upload error when I try to upload pictures to the forum. I’ve tried this from two different locations with the same result.

JR19759KeymasterI’ve reported the issue to Ben and Jeff, hopefully they’ll be able to figure out the problem, but for the moment I’d just upload from deviantart.

TorogParticipantI hate to pile on but I have been experiencing similar problems uploading. Photobucket to the rescue. Thanks in advance.
