Heromachine Trump Cards (Top Trumps)

Ok, I’m moving this all over from my thread, as it makes more sense to have it here.

Basic idea is to make a top trumps card set for 30 heromachine creators (although the set will be named Trump Cards for copyright reasons). If anyone is unaware of what top trumps is, its a card game consisting of a pack of 30 cards. Each card contains a list of numerical data, and the aim of the game is to compare these values in order to try to trump and win an opponent’s card. The player who wins the whole set wins the game.

I will need volunteers to help make the set, preferably either 3 (10 cards to make each) or 6 (5 cards to make each), including me obviously.

The categories are as follows:
Originality (so use of items in unusual and original ways)
Style (how identifiable their style is, if you can tell its their work without being told beforehand)
Design (how well thought out their designs are and how good the costume design is)
Blog Contest Wins (the number of times they have won a contest on the main blog)
Forum Contest Wins (the number of times they have won a contest on the forum)
Forum Posts (self-explanatory)

Please say which cards you’re going to do so we don’t have people making two of the same card. I’m doing/ have done Vampyrist, djuby, Harlequin (though I may need someone else to look over those two, see if their scores can’t be brought down a bit from what I’ve given them), headlessgeneral, MisterDinoMan, Blue Blazer, Iscarioto, Alexander of Limbo, Vengance and Weilyn. DO NOT do your own card if you are on the list.
When doing the logo’s at the bottom of the card do something that easily identifies the creator, like AMS’ red maple leaf or Atomic Punk’s Gas mask. Leave the logos unshaded.

Here’s the template code. Keep the font for the categories the same, but you can change the font for the creator name.

Next Card now, not sure about the logo, but I was going by his avatar (which I wasn’t going to try to recreate the whole thing because I’m nowhere near as talented as he is.)

Ok, I just want to clear a few things up.
1: If you are on the list of people to be included in the set it DOES NOT mean you have to make a card, it just means I would like to include you in the set.
2: This entire project and, in particular the first 3 categories, are just basically a bit of fun and messing about on my part and ARE NOT to be taken seriously as a critique of your work. Everyones work is different so really judging one persons against anthers is stupid really and you can understand the problem I had choosing the categories in the first place. I would have liked it if there was a way of making all of the categories fact based rather than guess work, but, unless some-one comes up with 3 new categories that are based on easily findable facts, I can’t think of anything else. I’m sorry if any of the results are not to your liking, I basically pull them out of my ass anyway.
3: If you have any complaints, if you want to be taken off the list or whatever, please PM me. I will try to be as accommodating as possible.
4: PLEASE remember, this is just a stupid little thing I came up with FOR FUN, it is not to be taken seriously.

One more:

To be honest, I’m not sure about going on with this. I spoke to a very respected forum member whose name is on the list of creators who I was planning to make cards for and they raised a number of the points in the above post. I hurt peoples feelings by giving them lower scores than they think they deserve, so I’m going to put this on pause for the moment, until I know people are ok with it. If other people want to take up the reigns, its fine with me, but I’m going to concentrate on other things for the time being.

You could perhaps put up a poll for the three points lists, for each poster? I don’t know. It’s a nice idea I think though! So long as people don’t take it the wrong way.

I don’t know how to use the poll-thing that we use for this site, so I don’t know what the limitations are with that idea, but it’d probably be the only fair way to do it. Mind you, if we did a separate poll for the three categories for each card, it would be something like 90 polls.

Polldaddy is easy to use. Create you poll and when you share it you use the wordpress link, copy it and paste it here.

The thing is you would ,as you said, need to make a poll for every thing. Three polls for each character with 11 questions each that would be a lot of work. Want I would do is have people PM you what they think the score should be the average the scores together, it would be a lot easier and would not take up your whole thread with polls.

Could you not have 3 polls, one for each category and list the 30 odd people, give everyone, I dunno, 15 odd votes, and then work out an average for everyone from that?

Will poll daddy let you rank an a poll in order of preference rather than tick box. Like Single-Transferable Vote or AV for the politically minded among us.

What, so you would suggest say, the top 3 get 10 for that category, then the next 3 get 9 and so on. That could work.

Polldaddy allows for surveys as well as polls which might work better, with up to 10 questions per survey I believe. One of the survey options is to assign a numeric value as the answer to the question.

Problem is, I don’t have any experience with Polldaddy, I’ve never used it before, so I don’t know how to use it. If anyone who can could help out here, I would very much appreciate it.
