Jack was an astronaut piloting a one-man craft through the solar system to get NASA a closer look at what lies beyond the planets that revolve around our sun. He had barely reached open space when his shuttle was impacted by a small asteroid. His controls damaged and his life support systems failing, Jack was fully prepared to die, but before he could he was suddenly bathed in a bright ray of warm light. His craft collapsed around him, but Jack found himself floating through space, very much alive despite lacking a ship and his space suit. He soon found that he could also fly at amazing speeds, and over the next several days he was able to make his way back to Earth. He then discovered that he had also gained other abilities, including the power to generate and throw blasts of energy from his hands, and the power to touch and object and cause its gravitational pull to be cut in half. With these magnificent gifts, Jack became the superhero Astroman. Though he knows nothing about the bizarre energy that imbued him with his powers, Jack is convinced that it was caused by some merciful being that found him worthy of salvation.Pictures:

He has zero gravity boots which allow him to speed through the air, a helmet which interfaces with his brain to give him amazingly sharp reflexes, an electronic belt that alerts him of approaching life forms, and most importantly the Star Gauntlets, which store and fire astral energy.
