Happy New Years

Poll Position: Firestar vs Firehawk

I think this weeks poll is going to be a heated one!!

[polldaddy poll="6788715"]

That's right, this week I pit the microwave wielding Firestar vs the nuclear powered Firehawk. Both ladies though using a different form of radiation but use that power to similar effect. Both are capable of flight, both can throw around  bolts of fiery heat, and both are able to focus heat on a object from a distance by concentration alone.

For those who are not familiar with the characters let me link you to some info on them:

Firestar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firestar#Powers_and_abilities

Firehawk: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Lorraine_Reilly_(New_Earth)

I find it difficult to select a winner on this one. On first blush one would think Nuclear power would be stronger then Microwave energy however firestar has demonstrated at time what would appear to be great levels of power then her revival in this contest though not on a consistent basis.  I am going to go on my gut and my personal preference  on this one and declare as my choice Firestar as the winner.

Well you have seen my choice on the issue, vote for yours and please leave a comment below telling us why you choose as you did!

Poll Position: Young Justice vs The Young Avengers!

This  Weeks Poll Pits Young Justice against The Young Avengers, specifically the following team members:

Young Justice: Robin, Superboy, Impulse, Wonder Girl, Arrowette, Secret, and Empress

VS

The Young Avengers: Iron Lad, Hulkling, Patriot, Wiccian, Stature, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), and Speed

[polldaddy poll="6770132"]

Looking at this one on paper I am not sure who has the advantage in this one. At first blush I'd say the DC team has the bigger Guns with the likes of Superboy and Wondergirl on the team however Wiccian could be a big game changer in this one.  In the end if I had to choose a winner I will have to give it to Young Justice.

That's my opinion on the matter, but I want to know what you think. Leave a comment below defending your choice in this poll!!

Poll Position: Ultron vs Brainiac

[polldaddy poll="6755743"]

This weeks "Poll Position"  pits Marvel's and DC's two resident robotic evil  geniuses against each other!  I most say I have a hard time coming up with a winner on this one folks. When looking at the two side by side comparing powers and ability the two are "mostly" identical in power set. I do have to give the edge in brain power to Brainiac as I believe he is  the more intelligent of the two robots however I give the edge in durability to Ultron and his Adamantium body.

In the end I think this is too close to call and the likely outcome would be a draw. The two battling to a stalemate forming an uneasy alliance while plotting to dominating the other and just waiting for the chance to betray the other and take control! So who do you pick in this battle, Ultron, Brainiac, or do you like myself think they will tie ? Leave a comment below with your opinion!.

Poll Position: Captain Marvel -vs- Captain Britain

It is time once again for our weekly versus match-up  This week I pit Captain Marvel against Captain Britain.

[polldaddy poll="6742229"]

These two characters have a lot more in common then one might think. Both Marvel and Britain have been granted their powers by a wizard Shazam in Marvels case and Merlin in Britain's.  Both characters have super human strength, and endurance as well  as the ability to fly. Where they differ is what may decide this match up. Britain has enhanced senses, though not as good as say Wolverines, they are still many times better then your average human beings, however he slowly begins to weaken and loss his powers should he leave the British isles  unless he is wearing his costume. Marvel on the other hand  has accelerated healing, and can summon lightning bolts which then can be use as a weapon so long as he is close enough to his opponent and manages to dodge them himself so as not to be transformed back into his normal child's body. Marvels weakness however is that despite having the Wisdom of Solomon his is still just a boy in a mans body and I think this gives the advantage to his opponent in this confrontation thus I award this one to Captain Britain, but that's just my opinion  Who do you think wins this one and why ? Leave a comment below explaining your choice.

QUASAR vs GREEN LANTERN

This weeks Versus poll pits Wendell Vaughn AKA Quasar against Hal Jordan better known as the Green Lantern

This one I see as a bit of a tough call to tell the truth. Wendell before getting the Quantum Bands was an agent of Shield while Hal was an Air Force Test pilot before gaining his power ring so we have to assume they both have a great deal of similar military training. I give a slight edge is power to the Quantum Bands since they grant the ability to manipulate and control other energy sources and they ability to teleport. On the other hand I give an edge to Lantern in the experience department. In the end I am going to give the Win to Green Lantern due to the experience edge though personally I prefer Quasar as a character.

So who do you think wins this one, let us know in the comments below what your choice is and way!

Stephen King vs. Alan Moore: Who's best?

I would bet I am not alone, at least among my United States readers, in desperately looking for a place to avoid politics today. So instead of forcing you to hash out tired arguments about which part is better, I instead offer you the following creative conundrum: Who's a better creator of speculative fiction, Stephen King or Alan Moore?

King is one of the greatest supernatural writers of all time, having sold over 350 million copies of his books. His work has been turned into television productions, movies, and comics. He's won awards from pretty much every writing group out there. You may know him from such works as "The Stand", "The Shining", "Carrie", and many, many more. But he's also moved outside of purely speculative fiction to write such masterpieces as "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Stand By Me".

Alan Moore is best known for writing comics, and arguably is the genre's greatest modern storyteller. He's responsible for stories that have made the leap from the four color page to the world of motion pictures, from "The Watchmen" to "V For Vendetta" to "From Hell" to "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". He's controversial, dark, effective, and phenomenally successful.

So which of these two literary titans gets your vote today, and why?
