Weekend Open Critique #H4

The Weekend Open Critique is now open. A request was made to have Open Critique on the weekend for the people that work during the week. This will also allow me to doing the contest judging on Sundays so I can get them ready to post on Mondays. So enlighten us with the wonders of your art and we will make you wonder with our enlighten critique. Say what you may, but say it in a nice way.

Friday Open Critique Day #H3

Here it is again Friday. Some say the best day of the week, because it is the last day of the work week. Others same it’s just another day because they work weekends. For me I say it is Friday Open Critique Day. Share with us projects you are working on and we will let you know what we think. By doing so, you agree to be open all comments. Please remember that the comments you make should be helpful, for we all have areas that we can improve on.

Friday Open Critique Day #H2

Here it is again Friday. Some say the best day of the week, because it is the last day of the work week. Others same it's just another day because they work weekends. For me I say it is Friday Open Critique Day. You know the deal, share with us and we will share with you.

Friday Open Critique Day #H1

Here it is, the day you waited all week for, "Friday" open critique day. Show us what you got and we will be happy to tell you what to do with it.

Open Critique Day #50

Wow, we've done fifty of these! Unreal.

My full-time (non-HeroMachine) job might keep me from actually getting to these before this evening, but it's time for another Open Critique Day!

If you have a HeroMachine illustration or another piece of artwork you've done that you'd like some help with, post a link to it in comments along with your thoughts on it -- what you think is working, what you're struggling with, etc. I will post my critique of the piece, hopefully giving some tips on how to improve it.

Of course everyone is welcome to post their critiques as well, keeping in mind the following guidelines:

  • Make sure your criticism is constructive. Just saying "This sucks" is both rude and unhelpful without giving specific reasons why you think it sucks and, ideally, some advice on how to make it better.
  • Each person should only post one illustration for critique to make sure everyone who wants feedback has a chance.
  • I will not critique characters entered in any currently running contest, as that doesn't seem fair to the other entrants. You can still post it if you like for the other visitors to critique, but I will not do so.

That's it! Hopefully we can get some good interaction going here and help everyone (me included!) learn a little bit today.
