Wonder Woman Spoiler Free Review

Hey everyone! I’m here with a review for you for a movie that I was really excited but also really nervous for: Wonder Woman. We finally get to see the third member of the DC Trinity get their own live action film, although the 2009 animated movie is also excellent and you should definitely check it out as well. This is also the first female-fronted superhero movie since Elektra, which I only saw part of and found really boring, so this has been a long time coming. I’ve said before that this was my last chance for the DCEU, after the crushing disappointment of Batman vs Superman and the somewhat enjoyable but horribly disjointed mess that was Suicide Squad. If this wasn’t good then Justice League was off the table and I was done being disappointed again and again with characters I’d loved since childhood. But the early buzz was good and even though I avoided reviews of any kind, I was starting to feel a bit better going into this film, and well…

Get Out Spoiler Free Review

Hey everyone! I was supposed to have this review up over the weekend, but unfortunately the weekend turned out to be pretty rough (anxiety sucks). On the plus side, things have calmed down again. Anyways, we rented a movie the other day that’s gotten a lot of buzz and we wanted to see it for ourselves. That movie of course is Get Out, the directorial debut of Jordan Peele and his foray into the world of the horror film. As usual, there are no spoilers here. So, let’s get started!

May The 40th Be With You

In case anyone wasn't aware, today is the 40th anniversary of the release of the first film in the biggest science fiction film series of all time, one of the biggest film series of all time period. One this day in 1977, Star Wars (later dubbed Episode IV: A New Hope) had its theatrical release in US cinemas. It's hard to overstate the importance of this film, the fact that the franchise is still making billions at the box office with new movies even 40 years after the first film was released says more than any retrospective or analysis ever could.

So Happy Birthday Star Wars. I made you cake, but an Ewok ate it.

Zach Snyder Stepping Down From Justice League Film

It has recently been reported that Superman and Batman vs. Superman director has stepped down from directing the upcoming Justice League film after the death of his daughter in March. The film is in the post-production stage with only a few additonal scenes needing to be shot for the final cut of the film, however Snyder has expressed a need to step back from the film in order to spend time with his family. Avengers director Joss Whedon is to take his place for the final part of the movies production cycle.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Mr. Snyder and his family during this trying time for them.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Spoiler-Free Review

Hey everyone! Well, we’re back to movies again in time for the new offering from Marvel. As I said in my Sabaton concert review, we needed a break so we didn’t go to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opening weekend, but we’ve seen it now so let’s talk about it. As usual, things are spoiler-free! Let’s get to it!

Breaking News: Deadpool Set For Adult Oriented Animated Series

Marvel have just announced on their news feed that FXX (the 21st Century Fox owned network) are set to make an action-comedy animated series starring the Merc With The Mouth aimed at adult audiences. Both Marvel Studios and ABC are working on the series alongside 21st Century Fox with Jeph Loeb and Donald GLover working as Executive Producer and showrunner espectively. 10 episodes have been ordered with no release date given as yet.

So, Deadpool doing adult oriented action-comedy animation. I'm hoping it's gonna be kinda like Archer but even more irreverant and with more Chimichanga's. That would be nice.

Dr. Malcolm Returns to the Park!

As I may have hinted before several times, Jurassic Park is a big deal in our house. As in, my other half is currently writing up scripts for videos because it's the 20th anniversary of The Lost World this year kind of important. So naturally it didn't take us long to hear word going around last night that Jeff Goldblum, aka Dr. Ian Malcolm, was set to return to the franchise. Given the nature of the Internet, we waited to see some further confirmation of this before reporting. And....

Trailers of the Week

Hey everyone, coming at you with some new trailers and stuff this week! April’s been a bit thin on films we wanted to see, other than Colossal, which isn’t playing near us, but there were a few trailers this week that I wanted to talk about. Also, at the end I’m going to show off something I picked up yesterday that I’ve been meaning to get my hands on since its release. So, without further ado, let’s get to it.

Thor Ragnarok Drops a Trailer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8RgYZAAIzY

What a way to start a Monday!

Just super quick thoughts because we're actually heading out of town right away so I don't have time for the usual dissection. You can definitely see there's a change of tone here, although there's certainly some darker parts. Loving the music choice, personally, and the throwback-style font that's all Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon-y. There's some humor, some really epic stuff, and some really dark stuff all thrown together. And Jeff Goldblum! Who else is loving that, because I sure am! I'm one of the few who really like the Thor movies, so I am ready to see where this goes.
