Olympian Games: Track and Field

On behalf of Hammerknight, I am happy to give you your next round of competition for the Olympian Games, Track and Field! You can vote for up to three people who you think would be in the top three in an other-worldly, multi-dimensional comic-book slug-fest to determine who's the best. I imagine Track & Field is not just for speed but also things like hurdles, pole vault, hammer hurl, etc.

[polldaddy poll="2727342"]

Duke it out in the comments about who you think would win, and why.

Olympian Games, Gymnastics Results

Thanks to everyone who voiced their opinion in the Olympian Games' Gymnastics Competition! On behalf of Main Man Hammerknight, I am happy to report the following characters are our winners:

medal-goldGold Medal: Spider-Man (Marvel)
medal-silverSilver Medal: Night-Crawler (Marvel)
medal-bronzeBronze Medal: Batman (DC)

After one event, therefore, Marvel leads the overall medal count with 2, while DC is second with 1.

Olympian Games Gymnastics

The ancient Greek Gods have transported some of the most famous and capable super-hero characters from multiple universes to the site of the first ever Olympian Games, pitting the greatest champions ever conceived against each other in comic-book style competition! Hammerknight has tabulated your suggestions and the first event is now under way:

[polldaddy poll="2691073"]

You can vote for up to three characters. Next Friday the votes will be counted, with the top-place finisher getting Gold, second place Silver, and third place Bronze. Make your arguments in the comments as to why you choose who you do, and may the most gymnastically gifted character win!

Many thanks to Hammerknight for thinking up this idea and putting it all together.

Olympian Introductions

Hammerknight has come up with what I think will be a very fun and interesting set of super-hero events which we're calling "Olympia Games" (ahem). He's put together an introductory poster describing what he has in mind (click to see it larger):

For those of you with problems getting to or viewing the poster, I'll try to retype the verbiage. And mega THANKS to Hammerknight both for the great idea, and for running it, he IS the man!

The First Ever Comic Book Hero OLYMPIA GAMES!

Contestants:
You get to pick who you want to compete. Pick a hero from any Comic Book Publisher. Then all you have to do is post your choices in the comment section below as follows: Hero's Name, Publisher, and the event you want to see them in.

The Events:

  • Gymnastics, Combat Tactical Course
  • Track and Field, 1000 mile Race
  • Swimming, 1000 mile Freestyle
  • Target Shooting, Combat Tactical Course
  • Tug-of-War, Five Person Team

After all the suggestions are made I, Hammerknight, will gather it all up and set up the events. With Tug-of-War being a five person team event, I will make the team-ups from the more suggested heroes, so if you can't pick out five heroes for the team that you would like to see together, I am sure that other people will make some suggestions to help fill out the teams. Then we will post a Poll with the events and contestants listed. Then vote for who you would like to win the event.

Start making suggestions today and we will have the Voting start next Friday and post the winners the Friday after.

Friday Night Fights I Gallery

I wanted to preserve the submissions for each of the four Friday Night Fights rounds, since I didn't realize the PollDaddy system would remove the images once voting was closed. So without further ado, here are all received submissions!

Caution: Lots of big image files follow, so if you're on a slow connection, beware. Images are in order of the weekly themes, going Super Hero - Sci-Fi - Fantasy - Open.

Final Friday Night Fights I Results

Congratulations to the winner of the first ever HeroMachine Friday Night Fights contest -- Kaldath! Here's his final winning entry for posterity:

Kaldath wins a custom color illustration by yours truly of whatever he likes. Each of his rounds was a blowout, so either he's just that awesome, or he has lots of friends who like to vote, or a combination of the two. Well done, sir! For those of you who don't know, Kaldath also won the very first HeroMachine character design contest a while back.

To further honor his success, here are his other three winning FNF entries (click to see at their original size).

Week 1, Super-Hero (Ramses):

Both of you guys were definitely worthy finalists, I am pleased as punch at the high quality of your entire slate of characters. Thanks to you both for sharing your creativity with us!

The same goes for so many of the other fourteen competitors as well. This wasn't an easy challenge, and there were some truly inspirational illustrations submitted. I salute each of you.

I did, however, want to particularly single out Zyp, who won the "West Coast Avengers" Open contest with his absolutely fantastic "Inferne":

I mean no slight to the other great entries, but this may be the best thing I have ever seen come out of HeroMachine. Zyp wins any item or a portrait to appear in the final HeroMachine 3 version.

Congratulations to Kaldath, Imp, and Zyp, as well as to all the great folks who participated! Hopefully we can have another set of Friday Night Fights after the holiday. Until then, keep creating!

Friday Night Fights Finale!

Congratulations to our two finalists in the first HeroMachine Friday Night Fights Contest! Each of these gentlemen will receive a custom character illustration by yours truly, the winner's in color and the runner-up's in black and white. To have come this far means each of them created three great, winning characters in three different genres, which is no mean feat. Along the way they overcame some wonderfully illustrated opponents, and now at the last they meet head-to-head for the championship.

With no further ado, therefore, I give you your coincidentally Death-themed "Open" final round of this first iteration of Friday Night Fights:

Friday Night Fights Round 3: Fantasy!

Congratulations to the winners of Friday Night Fights Round 2, who have each won either their own portrait or any item of their choice to be included in the final HeroMachine 3 version! The four Semi-Finalists will now square off in head-to-head matchups to compete for your votes. The two winners from this round go on to the Finals, with the runner-up receiving a custom black and white character illustration and the winner their own custom color illustration.

Here's how our bracket stands at the moment:

Tight voting

Don't forget to vote in the current Friday Night Fights round! The "West Coast Avengers" bracket is super-tight at the top, with Flame Knight leading Galactic Guardian by just TWELVE votes. The other matches are close, and could still be decided by a late surge as well.

You can vote every day, and by all means encourage your family, friends, and pets to make their voices heard as well!

Friday Night Fights Round 2!

The results are in for Round 1 of the first ever HeroMachine Friday Night Fights! Some of the races were razor-thin, with one contest being decided by a single vote. ONE VOTE, PEOPLE! Unlike national politics, your opinion really does matter here!

Congratulations to all those advancing to the next round, and hearty thanks to those brave souls who will not be pushing on. All is not lost for them, though -- see the bottom of the post for their ongoing efforts.

With the first set of head-to-head matchups complete, the victors now move on to their next challenge, as you can see in the Big Board below (winners highlighted in yellow):
