The winning prizes for all HeroMachine challenges.

HM3: Let’s be blunt

I have just uploaded the "ItemRight-Blunts" set to the HeroMachine 3 Alpha. Here's a screen grab of one of the preview screens for the new items, including "Bonebreaker", the prize for Silent Bilbo's Character Contest 5 winning entry:

blunts

As you can see, I tried to break each item up into four parts where possible, like in the first two rows. You have the entire item assembled, then just the top part, just the middle, and just the bottom. Sometimes, like in the last row's short mace, you can only get the whole item, the top, and the bottom. In those cases I included an extra head, usually, that you'll have to assemble yourself with the shaft.

Other times, particularly at the end, each item was just a one-off, not broken up.

Let me know what you think, any bugs you find or items you want to add, etc. I went through all the suggestions in the last thread and included a lot of them, but a surprising number were actually axes or swords or whatnot.

Next up, guns! I think we've got enough potential firearms to break them up into several sets, starting with Pistols and then Rifles, and then probably general Big Modern Weapons like flame throwers, missile launchers, etc.

Caption Contest 49 Prize

So guilt and a hanging sense of failure finally drove me to circle back and finish up (or at least try to) some previous contest winners. Steve just approved his custom illustration for winning Caption Contest 49, the armored solider "Crimson Dawn":

I apologize to all previous winners who haven't yet gotten your prizes, but I am working on them as time allows and you will NOT be forgotten. Many thanks to Steve and the other winners for their patience thus far, I really appreciate it.

HM3: Two prize items

With thanks to Brambles and Mark Shute, I am happy to announce that I've just uploaded a version of ItemRightBladesTwo for the HeroMachine 3 Alpha that includes their contest winning prizes:

Mark's stone dagger can be used either as a regular knife or, with a rotated handle, an axe head (that's what the extra bindings are for). And those of you who have wanted a scabbard for a while have Brambles to thank for at least this first one. The cavalry sword he submitted was pretty cool looking, I think both it and Mark's Neolithic weapon are fine additions.

Thanks to both of them and congratulations once more! If you've won a contest but haven't sent me your request, make sure you do so at some point.

HM3: More ranged items

I've just made the updated "ItemRightRanged" set for the HM3 Alpha available, which includes a lot of the suggestions from Solander and others, primarily in the "Thrown Items" sort of category. It also includes the prize for our first Character Contest winner, Imp, who requested:

Okay, how about this: a bow that looks like a bat - the arms would be the 'wings', with a kind of webbed look - sort of like a more intricate, stylized Batman symbol.

It's the last item in the set, and here's what the lineart looks like:

Congratulations to Imp, and I should get to those other prizes ... soon. Yeah.

Contest 48 Prize: March Madness

Runt82 and I have finished his prize for winning Caption Contest 48:

Apparently there is some sort of impending athletic competition coming up and some folks like Mark Shute and Runt82 have strong feelings on the matter. Not that these figures are in any way representative of popular, and copyrighted, college mascots or anything. No sir.

Thanks to Runt82 for working with me on this one, it was fun!

Contest 47 Prize: Mynx

Steve and I have completed his prize for winning Caption Contest 47, a woman he calls "Mynx" and her otherworldly feline companion:

I struggled quite a bit with the cat companion, and still don't think I really nailed it. But overall it's a good illustration and I hope Steve's happy with it.

You can win your very own custom black and white illustration of whatever you like (within reason) by entering Caption Contest 48, going on now!

As a side note, the first version I did mistakenly had the character holding a big ol' sword, but it turns out he is a monk so that didn't work. But I thought the sword was cool so I'll post it after the jump:

Skulan and I have finished his prize for winning Caption Contest 39, my introduction to Warhammer:

That's an Ork, for those of you (like me) who don't know jack about Warhammer. Hopefully Skulan's pleased with it, and you'll like it enough to immediately leap into action on Caption Contest 48, going on right now!
