The winning prizes for all HeroMachine challenges.

HM3: Hairy and emaciated bodies

I've just completed two prizes for DiCicatriz, one for Character Contest 38 (Random II) and the other for Character Contest 50 (Random III). Apparently "random" is his middle name. Anyway, the first is a somewhat unique addition to Body-Male-Standard -- body hair:

I've color-coded this screen capture so you can see what I mean. "LineColor" is the torso hair, "color1" is the arm hair, and "color2" is the leg hair. This will allow you to use one, two, or all three of the hair areas by changing the alpha value of the various bits. So if you just want chest hair, turn color1 and color2 to 0% alpha. If you want leg and arm hair only, change line color to 0% alpha, and so on. I thought it was a neat solution, hopefully you'll like it too.

The second is an emaciated male body for Body-Male-Alternate. I have to admit a morbid curiosity to see what DiCicatriz is going to use this for ...

Enjoy!

HM3: New Right Hands

Finishing up Imp's prize from Character Contest 33, I've converted these three hands from the Modern Warrior mini to HeroMachine 3 Alpha:

Thanks for your patience, and for the suggestion, Imp!

More prizes

I've just added the following item to Headgear-Standard for HeroMachine 3 as MScat's "Character Contest 47" prize:

And the following three items to "FootRight-Male-Standard" for Joshua's "Caption Contest 86" prize:

That's the same boot, just broken into the foot portion, the calf portion, and then assembled all as one.

Enjoy! If you like 'em, be sure to thank the winners.

Two more contest prizes

With thanks for their patience, I am happy to announce two more contest prizes have been approved, both from last time's Friday Night Fights. I figured I should probably get those done before this FNF concludes :-/

First up was Gene's consolation round prize. He chose a sci-fi helmet based on a wolf concept, and it is now live in Headgear-Standard:

Second is Imp's runner-up custom black and white character sketch, featuring "Rocket Ninja":

Thanks again to both of those guys for being so patient and easy to work with. These were fun illustrations to do!

Happy Halloween!

In honor of this silliest of American traditions, and with thanks to SpiderCow2010 for choosing it as his contest prize, I give you ... PunkinHead!

This nightmarish visage can be found haunting the pages of "Head-Zombies" in HeroMachine 3 even as we speak, in both a blank pumpkin and face-carved version. Enjoy!

HM3 Reprizing Results

The results are in for deciding which items will replace those unclaimed contest prizes from months gone by, and they are:

Thanks to all who submitted ideas, and who voted, your feedback is always very much appreciated.

I tend to work very slowly on these prizes, so you might not see these start to appear for a while. Or they might get done tomorrow! That's the joy and wonder of working in a completely ad hoc and random manner, not even I know what I am going to do next for sure.

But they are on The List and I will definitely be getting them added at some point.

Poll Position: HeroMachine prize items!

I've compiled all your excellent suggestions regarding replacement prize items for contest winners who never told me what they wanted -- thank you all for the time and effort you put into the ideas!

I had to leave out a few for various reasons; either they were redundant, or I already had the item in question (there's already a set of jodhpurs in Legwear-Standard), or they weren't specific enough. In cases where you asked for more than one thing, I usually just took the first one from the list. If the person making the request provided a reference photo link, I added it to the choice -- just click on an image to expand it. If there was no reference provided, you'll just have to use your imagination.

So here's how this will work.

Vote for as many items in the following list as you would want to see in HeroMachine 3. At the end of a week, the top ten vote getters will become HeroMachine items (eventually)! It's so simple, even a bald hick like me could do it.

And so can you, so go do it already!

HM3: New pattern

For his Character Contest 40 prize, Haz requested that the vertical gradient from the "Patterns" tab be turned into an item in the "Patterns-Standard" set so you could do a two-tone effect, mask it, rotate it, size it, etc. I had no clue how to do such a thing, but I gave it a whirl and what do you know, it worked! I've now updated the file and you can use it immediately. Here's a screen shot of what it looks like:

The top color is color 1, the bottom one is color 2. I am excited this turned out to be so easy! If I get motivated I need to do it for some of the other ones too ... although I suppose with just this one and some masking, you can put a two-color gradient going any direction onto any item, more or less.

I am working on prizes now, and have already sent out several for approval this morning. Sadly Haz didn't get the chance to approve it, I was too happy and figured I nailed it, so this is the first he's hearing of it. Surprise! Haz, if you don't like it for some reason let me know and I'll make changes.

After the jump I am going to put a list of the outstanding contest prizes -- if you see your name and haven't gotten your prize yet, let me know. This is particularly critical for Steve, Cory, Fishpants (x2), Frankie, ArtfulDodger, Violodion, Brons (x2), MercWithAMouth, and Bixlord as starting tomorrow I am going to forfeit your prizes and instead turn them over to the community at large to vote on items THEY want instead.

HM3: New backgrounds

I've just added the "Background-Standard" set of items, consisting of 8 of the "Floor" items and about the same number of walls. I needed to do a brick wall background for Gargoyle323's Character Contest 41 win anyway, and realized I didn't have a "Standard" set there yet. I needed a logical place to put the brick wall, and figured this would be a good time to set up the set. Then when I started looking at walls, I got motivated to do some extras, too.

So this one is just a placeholder for now until I can flesh it out a bit more.

The idea of those first two is that color1 fills the center of the hole, and that's what is masked to. So you could put whatever item you want on stage, mask it to this hole, and it would look like the item was peeking through. Color2 is the brick pattern, so if you didn't want bricks you could set that to the same color as color1, or remove it entirely, and be left with just the hole fill.

If you don't see the choice come up, clear your browser cache and try again.
