Character Design Challenge 98 Results!

Last week we challenged you to redesign lightning-themed Public Domain characters, and you knocked it out of the park once again. I've chosen a handful of entries as ones that I personally liked the most, but as always, this is just my own opinion. I highly encourage you to click through all the submissions in the original post to make up your own mind, then let me know if I picked wisely or poorly, and which you like as your own Top Gun.

With that, here are my personal favorites of the week:

Pop Quiz 24 Results

We had some great entries in our Rag Doll Pop Quiz, and here they are:

Those are all great, but among my very favorites were Atomic Punk, Barbario, Keric, Livewyre, Scatman, SprocketSauce, and Worf. And if I have to go with just one to put up on my wall, I'd go with ... Atomic Punk!

There aren't any crazy, out of control special effects here, just a great concept executed very well. I love the colors, the little embellishments, and just the overall look and feel of the whole design. It's fun and cool at the same time. Great job, sir!

Congratulations to everyone who entered, you all did a wonderful job.

Caption Challenge 127 Results

We had a ton of very funny entries for our last Caption Challenge, thank you! And I just realized that I neglected to credit the always awesome Glenn3's "Say What?" PhotoBucket site for the original image:

Some entries tickled my funny bone a little more than others, and I gladly present them to you forthwith:

Pop Quiz 23 Results

Many thanks to the folks who entered yesterday's Pop Quiz! Since we had a relatively small pool, here they all are:

Man, these are all so good! All of the usual suspects hit it out of the park, from Lime and Kytana to djuby and Atomic Punk and ... well hell, EVERYONE did amazing work this time around, seriously. I really hesitate to pick just one. But, that's how the game is played, I suppose, so just going with my own personal knee-jerk response, I'm going to pick Scatman as my personal favorite:

Mostly because besides being a nice, tight illustration, it gave me a chuckle. And I kind of needed a chuckle today.

But honestly, there were twenty others just as good that I could have gone with, you all completely outdid yourselves. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us!

And since I shouldn't have to be the only one to agonize over a hard decision today, please speak up in the comments and let us know which one YOU would choose as your personal favorite, or any others that you care to remark on.

Character Design Challenge 97 results

We got some kick-ass entries for our last Character Design Challenge, which tasked you with coming up with heroes (or villains) whose costumes were made up of everyday clothing items instead of spandex and capes. Without further ado, here are some of my personal favorites:

Pop Quiz 22 Results!

Thanks to everyone who entered the last Pop Quiz, which challenged you to come up with a space ship. Here are all of the entries:

As for my personal favorite, I'm going to go with Skybandit. I liked the ship design the most, though the background and the planet I think aren't as successful as they could have been. But it's not a background challenge, it's about the ship, and I thought this one worked great.

Congratulations to Skybandit and thanks to everyone who took the time to play along!

Caption Challenge 126 Results

I think Caption Challenge 126 is my favorite one ever. You were tasked with coming up with replacement text for this blank comics panel:

And you all really outdid yourselves. If you haven't read through the whole comment thread, I encourage you to do so because I know I will miss some great entries as I pull out my personal favorites.

Speaking of which, here they are!

  • Jake: All hail the Hypno-Toad.
  • Herr D: Harry: I bet your new TK power isn’t strong enough to pull the pigment out of the ink on this page! –FR
  • Hammerknight: Don’t look now, but you are being followed by a giant lolly-pop.
  • Frevoli: 50 Shades of Gray – E L James

    Chapter 1…

  • Frevoli: My little ponies have captured the Tardis – send help
  • Frankie: Letter: R
  • DiCicatriz: I replaced your contact lens solution with LSD. Good luck.

  • Myro: ”From the Desk of Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth,

Good news, everyone! I have invented a device that allows you to imagine my voice while you read this letter.”

But one entry stood head and shoulders above the rest, right from the start. And that entry belongs to Hammerknight!

Congratulations, HK!

That's just my personal favorite, though, let me know which ones tickled your funny bone the most in comments.

Pop Quiz 21 Results

Many thanks to everyone who took up the latest Pop Quiz challenge! Here are all of the entries for your browsing enjoyment:

We had a lot of strong contenders in this round, but my personal favorite is Lime's. I liked her story and the image perfectly captured its spirit.

Character Design Challenge 96 Results

We had some great entries for Character Design Challenge 96, which tasked you with designing a "big bad" type of villain, something that could take on an entire team of super heroes. I want to take a moment right at the top to welcome the many new folks who chimed in for the first time this week, it's great to have you sharing your creativity with us!

And on a more unpleasant bookkeeping note, among others who submitted entries that were invalid for not being named properly were excellent ones by Alphaalpharomeo, Joel, Blaq Aries, the creator, and DC Lover. Please name your files properly next time so your great work has a chance to be considered.

I encourage you to go check out the entire submissions thread because while I'll choose my personal favorites in a moment, there are many more that are stellar that you might like better.

However, since all I have is my opinion, here are the ones that I personally enjoyed the most.
