Many thanks to everyone who took on the "Scary" character challenge last week. We had some great entries and I encourage you to check out the comments of the original post to see them all.

I went through and picked out some of my favorites to share with you here:

I was pretty selective this time, so all of these are really great in my opinion. Picking just one is particularly difficult, which surprises me because, frankly, horror stuff isn't really my thing. But especially among djuby, Marquis Samedi, dblade, Thundersong, nha247 & jr19759 (both of which I think might have been entered before?) and Iscarioto, I had a tough time picking just one overall favorite to highlight.

It might be because my first few "30 Character" submissions have leaned towards the Steampunk end of things, but I find myself ultimately selecting djuby's way cool "Steam Ripper". Both in concept and execution I think it's stellar:

All righty, after many hours of server woes, it appears we are back up and almost functional. Wahoo! As a result, here are the entries for our last Pop Quiz, which challenged you to come up with a cool Halloween pumpkin design:

As you can see, there were some fun and cool entries. My personal favorite is Jack's snowman-style grim homage. It reminds me a bit of what Calvin would get up to, an equal mixture of fun and frightening.

Many thanks to everyone who entered Character Challenge 102! Speedsters are tough to do since the base body in the program is so static. But once again you all rose to the occasion and produced some outstanding work. My personal favorites are below but I definitely encourage you to check out the original set of entries in the contest comments.

Many thanks to everyone who entered our Halloween Pop Quiz! Your challenge was to design a mask like you might see someone wearing at a Halloween party, and you all did a great job:

While I think all of these are really well done, a few did jump out as particularly impressive. In no particular order, they were Debochira, djuby, Harlequin, Keith Kanin, and Scatman.

Out of those, I'm going with Scatman's as my personal favorite:

Many thanks to all you talented creators who submitted an entry for the last Pop Quiz, which challenged you to create a creature using at least two items from Head-Animals. And they are:

I think this was possibly the strongest set of submissions yet for one of these Pop Quizzes, congratulations to all of you. It's very impressive and fun work.

Picking just one as my personal overall favorite is hard, but I'm going to go with Atomic Punk this week. I like the scene, the perspective, and the sense of curiosity it evokes for me to want to find out what's going on.

Great job, everyone, and thanks as always for sharing your creativity with us!

First off, let me acknowledge that "Character Challenge 101: Gamma Madness!" was much harder than I anticipated. So congratulations to everyone who powered through and produced an illustration, you should pat yourself on the back. I do think that sometimes it's a good thing to stretch your creative muscles and try something that's not necessarily in your comfort zone. And, we got some really nice work out of it! Bonus!
