Character Design Contest ♯127 (What a bunch of posers) winner

Now that's more like it. We managed to get back up to our usual poll participation level for this week, which, after last week, is a relief. And it was an interesting weeks worth of voting, with our eventual winner having to fend off second place at every turn, only to pull ahead at the last minute to take the win. And the person to whom I refer is djuby for his excellent (if untitled) entry. Congrats djuby and well done to everyone who entered.

Character Of The Week- Mr. Nobody- Silhouette Of War

This weeks COTW was very hard to choose. There have been at least 4 or 5 creations that could easily have got the nod, from such awesome creators as AMS, Headlessgeneral, Vectorman316 and Suleman, but in the end I felt compelled for some unknown reason to go for this pic by Mr. Nobody. It's a very good example of less being more when it comes to art, the entire atmosphere and impact of the picture coming from a two colour background and a blacked out figure. It may not sound like much, but I'm sure you'll agree, the effect is striking to say the least.

Character Design Contest ♯128- Dressed To Impress

Of course, I am making a habit of having costume design contests on an annual basis, so this is going to be this years. However, to make it a bit different, I would like to ask that you only focus on the costume, at the expense of everything else. Some slight posing is allowed if it is to show of different aspects of the costume, but other than that I only want face-forward standard posing, and hair is only allowed if the costume includes so sort of fascinator or other hair accessory. If you want to do shading on the costume, that's fine, but other than that I want the body to be a completely blank slate, like a mannequin, it can't even have a face. I'm only going to be looking at the costume, so I think it's only fair that you guys do too.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Character Design Contest ♯127 (What A Bunch Of Posers) Poll

Character Design Contest ♯126 (Contest Again) Winner

Ok, I'd be lying if I said that result wasn't a little bit worrying. Not who won, but the amount of votes. This weeks poll only got 97 votes apparently, which is the lowest turnout for a poll since CDC63 in March last year. What's all that about guys? Did everyone decide to take their summer vacation at the same time this week or something? Or did people just look at the poll and say "oh, this guy is gonna win, it's so obvious, so I'm not gonna vote" (although that's never stopped anyone before).

Either way, it doesn't change the outcome, seeing as our winner won by a clear nearly 30 votes. And that winner is DiCicatriz for his Spear Scream character. Congrats DiCi and thanks to everyone who entered and voted.

Character Of The Week: Suleman- Hover Hands

Very condensed COTW this week, due to the fact that there hasn't been much uploaded in the past week. So no Also Awesome, but hopefully it'll be back next week. I blame summer personally.

But anyways, we still have a COTW and this week it's Suleman. I love the use of the energy effects for the arms and the colour blending on the chest and gloves is pretty damn nice. Nice use of items, helmets for the shoulders and shoulder pads on the head, though I'm not too sure about the "eyes", but they aren't that bad that it puts me off the rest of the picture.

Character Design Contest ♯127- What a bunch of posers

Ok, starting this week, I'm going to do a series of challenges for you guys, to really test your skills with the 'machine. And we're going to kick of with a challenge centred around posing. We did this sort of challenge a while back, so everyone should know the drill. You cannot use the standard face-forward pose. The pose has to be of your own creation, so you can't use pre-made poses from the forums custom item section. Also, I'm only judging on the pose and, to an extent, how well you've adapted the costume elements to the pose, so don't include backgrounds. That'll come later.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Character Design Contest ♯125 (TGT) Winner

Well, we haven't had this name mentioned in the contest winners segment for quite a while now. I suppose that's what you get when you are more sporadic with your contest entrances. But either way, I'm surprised that it's been over 40 contests since his last win. Anyway, this weeks winner is djuby for his Wild West Saloon Girl Hover Bot. Congrats djuby, and well done to everyone who entered.

Character Of The Week: Zyp- Work In Progress

I don't think that we've ever featured a w.i.p on Character Of The Week before But then, this is one of Zyp's works in progress, so you already know the level of quality we're talking about here. Just look at the shading. That's gone beyond Zyping (his own technique), it's even gone beyond Jeimuzu's cell-shading technique. It's quite honestly one of the most incredible things I've seen on heromachine and is a testament to what you can do by thinking outside the box with this program.
