Character Design Contest ♯132 (One Slot) Winner

Yet another low turnout for the poll to mirror the low turnout for the entries, but even so, this poll did throw up some surprises. I knew it was going to be close, but I didn't expect our eventual second place finisher to be the one challenging for the win, considering it was the most "standard" of our entries, but there you go. I guess people must have really liked it for this one.

And the second surprise comes from the fact that, according to my records (which admittedly do only cover Hammerknights and my own contests, so there may be a Jeff run contest I don't know about here), this is the first CDC win for our winner, which is amazing considering his Power User status. But then Herr D (who won with his piece Foggy Moonrise On Aelihoh) was never one for being conventional. So congratulations Herr D, and well done to all of our contestants.

Character Design Contest ♯133- Great Intelligence

Ok guys, for this weeks challenge I want you to create a character that is more likely to use their brain to solve problems rather than any physical might. This can come in any form you can think of (for example both super-intelligence and psychic powers would apply, but logical thinking and detective sleuthing are also applicable, vis-a-vis Sherlock Holmes or Batman) and doesn't just have to be confined to superheroes, you can do Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Western, Noir, Anime, etc. You are also not just confined to heroes either, evil geniuses are welcomed, provided world domination is non-successful at this stage. Of course, it would be nice if you can show your character using their incredible mental abilities as well.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Character Design Contest ♯132 (One Slot) Poll

Sorry this is up late, had a bit of trouble getting into the admin area after the switch back to the old layout.

Character Design Contest ♯131 (All In One) Winner

Well that was a disappointing turnout for the poll. Considering the quality of the entrants, to not even get 90 votes is rubbish. I can't even say that people saw that the winner was running away with the vote and so they didn't vote, because he only won by 14 votes. I don't know.

Anyway, this weeks winner, by the aforementioned number of votes and picking up his first CDC win in the process, was Skoul for his piece HeatStroke. Congrats Skoul and well done to everyone who entered.

Character Of The Week: Ubiquitous Pixel- Spartacus Attacks

Gonna be a condensed COTW this week unfortunately, due to me being very short on time. But it's not like there's a lot that needs to be said about this one anyway, nor is there much that can be said, due to the fact that it is very hard to speak when ones jaw is on the floor. I mean look at how the pose was put together, the masking that makes up the torso is incredible and the same for the helmet. The entire thing just screams action. Job well done.

Character Design Contest ♯132- One Shot with One Slot

Ok guys, last week I gave you freedom to pretty much do anything you wanted. This week is going to be much the same. However, you can only use items from one category for your entry. For example, you could only make a picture using items from the Items-Right category, or you could make a picture from items from the Heads category. This should make for some interesting results.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Character Design Contest ♯130 (You’re Backgrounded) Winner

Ok, I'm pretty confident there wasn't any jiggery-pokery going on with this weeks poll. There weren't any sudden and inexplicable jump in votes for anyone, the leader maintained their lead all week (which might be a bit boring, but I'm fine with it) and it was quite close between some of the other placings. So I'm going to postpone making any changes to the poll format for now. Hopefully last week was just a fluke.

Anyway, the winner of this weeks poll was Cliff for his Mountain Lake. Congrats Cliff and well done to everyone who entered.

Character Of The Week: DiCicatriz- AMS Villains

Choosing this weeks COTW was hard. Very hard. But I think I made the right choice out of the three I was contemplating. Considering whose art this is, whose characters they are redesigning and the fact that there's multiple characters in the picture, it is a brilliant example of multiple aspects of character creation on Heromachine. Body shape, costume, facial expression, hair, posing, body language, shading, effects, item usage and masking, all present and more than correct here. All we need now is a background.

Character Design Contest ♯131- All In One

Considering we've had a months worth of contests covering posing, costume, faces/ hairstyles and backgrounds, what's the logical next step?

That's right, all of them together!

So, that's you challenge this week. Your entry must include a non-standard posed character with an interesting costume, face and/or hairstyle and there must also be a background. Simple enough for me to say, but I know this will be a challenge for some people. Also, there are some people to whom this is their bread and butter, so getting on the poll is going to be tough.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.
