Character Design Contest ♯142- Water

Ok, so continuing our classical elements theme, this week we're doing the second element, Water. Therefore, all of your entries must be water themed. So that could be aquatic scenery, water-themed characters, nautical images etc. etc. etc. Just dive in and hope you make a big enough splash.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Character Design Contest ♯140 (Getting Emotional) Winner

Not much really to say about this weeks poll. Two people looked to be in contention for half of the week then one just pulled away, so normal practice really. However, the result did mean that we have (as far as I'm aware) a first time winner, which will make that person very happy. And that person is Geno who won for their depiction of depression, Haunted. Congrats Geno, and well done to all of our entrants, don't get too sad you didn't win.

JReviews: Doctor Who Series 9 Episode 3- Under The Lake

Ok, so, just to let you all know I'm going to try my hardest to resist singing songs from The Little Mermaid during this review, even though the episode title really makes me want to. And with that out of the way, let's dive in. Pun intended.

Character Of The Week: Stulte- The Floating Archipelago & Honu Po O Kea

There are some members of this community that only seem to have one setting, that setting being "wow". We all know that Stulte is an absolute master at world building and fantasy-realism design work and that is plain to see in the second of our two featured pictures today. But the first one. The first one. Just… The colours, the shading, the use of items, the atmosphere, just… wow is the only word I have right now. As for the second picture. Well the shading is something else. My only gripe is, how is something that big floating like that? It does not compute.

Character Design Contest ♯141- Fire

Ok guys, for this weeks contest we're going to be starting on the theme of the Four Classical Elements. And we're kicking off with fire. So, the idea is simple, you create either a fire themed character or a fire themed image (e.g. a burning building or a campfire). Simple enough right?

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. JReviews: Doctor Who Series 9 Episode 2- The Witch’s Familiar

Hello, hey, yeah, sorry, shoulda had this up yesterday and all that, but sorta got side tracked by a little thing called The Rugby World Cup (I'm English and it was the England Wales game, kinda a big thing you know). Anyway, that's all done with, got a review, here it is.

Character Design Contest ♯140 (Getting Emotional) Poll

[polldaddy poll="9097780"]

I will say one thing. You lot have some repressed emotional trauma or something. Only two people entered something that could be considered positive emotions, and even then they are both traits usually found in psychopaths. So, if you would please take a seat on that red couch over there and we can discuss it. Now, could you tell me about your relationship with your father...

😉

Character Design Contest ♯139 (Colourful) Winner

Interesting result this week. Our winner was actually the one entrant I was unsure about putting on the poll and not only did they win, they dominated the poll. And it was their first entry into a contest if I'm correct. So congratulations to Tracy111 whose Blue Bell owned this weeks poll. Well done Tracy and to everyone else who entered.

Character Of The Week: Yin- Hathor

Those of you who pay close attention to the Also Awesome section of this post every week will be familiar with the name of this weeks featuree. Yin is almost always there, but has never actually had a COTW nod until now, and to be honest I couldn't exactly explain why. It's certainly not through lack of skills. But this week she pulled a blinder with this rendition of the Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood and the Sky. I mean just look at the shading on the dress. For once I don't actually have words for how beautiful and natural it looks. And I adore the lintless insignia patterns Yin uses for backgrounds. It is a great signature effect and really makes her work stand out and catch the viewers eye. Then you have the actual construction of the costume. The head piece is fantastic, the dress simple and magnificently patterned and the transparent sections really add that extra something to make it even more special. And the expression, so regal. Kids, quick tip, this is how you get COTW. Do something this good. Because this is as close to perfect as you can get.
