Caption Contest #81 Results

So, last week I asked you guys to come up with the best replacement dialogue for this random comic panel:

caption-contest-blank-batman

And here are my Top 5:

William A. Peterson: I TOLD J'onn that I was the better detective... but he just wouldn't listen.

Calvary Red: Now I'll just tell the kid it was Tony Zucco.

DiCicatriz: Did you see the size of that spider? This was the most logical course of action.

goku69: Date night went smoothly.

MurrImAButterfly: I am never letting Deadpool fight Joker for me again...

And the winner is...

The List: Top 10 Greatest Animated Superhero TV Shows Of All Time

It seems that you guys prefer animated superheroes to live-action ones, as this poll got 20% more votes than the previous poll. Or maybe it's just that there have been more superhero 'toons? Either way, we've got our 10, so let's get to it.

What Were They Thinking: “Mental Ageing”

So, here on What Were They thinking, the series where we look at the stupidest most ill-advised things to ever appear in the comic book medium, we've covered a lot of dodgy and potentially offensive subjects. Teen pregnancy, incest, child abuse, but we haven't had paedophilia yet. Well don't worry everyone, Green Lantern has you covered (and I am going to hell for this one).

Poll Position: Greatest Alien Race In Fiction

Ok, this week on poll position we're going to try and answer a question of truly cosmic proportions. Which alien race is the greatest in all of fiction. And when we are talking fiction I mean, all of it. The candidates can come from visual media (so TV (both live action and animation) and Film), Audio (radio shows such as A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy or War Of The Worlds), Print (so Books or Comics) even Video Games. Obviously we are only talking about fictional aliens, so Scientologists are not applicable and neither is Herr D because we're looking at entire races rather than individuals. As per usual, I've given you 10 to start with and you can add your own suggestions. Please make sure you include the franchise that the species you nominate originate from in your suggestion and please, please only one suggestion at a time.

There’s no possible way this could be misinterpreted is there?

Proving that it isn't just the writing of their comics that suffers from people not thinking, but the titles as well.

Caption Contest #81

Ok guys, time for another caption contest, where you have to come with the funniest replacement dialogue for a random comic panel of my choosing. This week, well, it's Batman:

caption-contest-blank-batman

Everyone can have a maximum of 3 entries, entries must be in by next Wednesday (2nd November) and Must Be PG-13.

The List: Top 10 Greatest Live Action Superhero TV Shows Of All Time

You lot were very indecisive on this weeks poll. No less than 75% of the field shared the exact same number of votes as another entry and there were at least 2 3 way ties. Fortunately, the top 4 weren't tied in any way so that does make my job a little easier.

Honourable Mentions: The 1990 Flash series, Luke Cage (which is pretty good numbers for a show that's only just been released) and Gotham

Poll Position: Greatest Animated Super TV Show Of All Time

As we covered Live Action Superhero TV Shows last week, this week we're looking at the best animation that superhero TV has to offer. As always, I've given you 10 to start off with and you can add any you think I've missed. As with last week, if you can put the dates the series started and ended with your suggestions (and unlike last week you don't have to vote Flash).

Oh and don't put two series in the same suggestion. I know you can't go back and put another suggestion in after you've clicked ok to cast you vote, but putting all of your suggestions into the Other box all at once just means you're putting them as the same thing for people to vote for, so just wait until the next day to add the second series or do it from another computer. It's not something I can do anything about and if I add them separately myself, it just means you've lost your vote for those shows, because I'll have added them as new suggestions rather than as an audience voted suggestion.

[polldaddy poll="9557831"]

And I'll be very disappointed in you all if Powerpuff Girls doesn't make it into the top 10. That show was the best.

What Were They Thinking?: Earth(31) to Frank Miller

So, here on What Were They Thinking, the series where we take a look at the stupidest, most ill advised things the comic book industry has ever done, we talk a lot about "them", "them" being a blanket term for the faceless people upstairs in the publishing houses of Marvel and DC, the writers and artists who create the terrible stuff we cover and basically everyone who works there. We don't ever focus on individuals, I mean I haven't even slagged off Rob Liefeld on this series, even when I did it originally. However, today that is going to change, because we're talking about this bloke.

The List: Top 10 Reasons Why Blizzard Should Turn Overwatch Into A Multimedia Franchise

Hey guys, JR here and, yes, I know we've had a list already this week, but I wanted to do another one that isn't based on a poll.

So, Overwatch. In case you weren't aware, this is a video game. A team based, multiplayer first person shooter, to be precise, where the players choose a "hero" with unique movement, attributes and skills, from four defined classes (Offence, Defence, Tank and Support). It's become quite popular. The lowest professional critical score it has been given is an 8/10 by Polygon and commercially the game had 7 million players within a week of launch and is currently sitting at somewhere around 20 million players as of this week. So it's good. Well, I mean I freaking the love the thing. But I can't help feeling as though Blizzard (the game studio who developed and published the game) are missing out on something by just keeping the franchise in the realm of video games. So, I'm gonna list the 10 reasons I think Blizzard should make Overwatch a multimedia franchise. And by multimedia, I obviously mean media outside of video games, so TV, Movies, Comics, Books etc. etc. etc.
