Character Of The Year 2016- Final

So, we have our 4 winners and highest voted 2nd place from our 4 polls. That can only mean one thing. It is time to start the final. I've put our five finalists into a new poll and you can now vote for your favourite once per day until December 24th. After that, the winner will be announced and entered into the Hall Of Fame. As per usual with the finals, I have hidden the result, just to add a bit of suspense.

What Were They Thinking: Marvel’s Image problem

So, here on what were they thinking we usually look at the worst, most ill-advised things to happen in the history of the comics industry. However, since it is the season to be jolly (tralalalala lalalala), today we're going to take a look at something that wasn't actually so bad, in fact you could even say it was a really good thing for all involved, but somehow ended up with what can only be described as Marvel in the 90's. So strap yourselves in Ladies, Gentlemen and extra-dimensional beings because today we are talking about a two year period in Marvel's history and how it led to the creation of Image Comics

The List: Top 10 Greatest Character Portrayals In Comic Book Movies

Well, you lot liked this one didn't you. Beating last weeks record number of votes and getting more user suggestions than any previous poll, you guys certainly had a lot to say about who you thought was the best at playing superhero on the big screen. And as it would turn out, most of what you had to say was about one particular person, but we'll get to that later.

Honourable Mentions: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (X-Men franchise), Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach (Watchmen), Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange/ Stephan Strange and Tom Holland as Spider-Man/ Peter Parker (MCU), Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon and Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth (The Dark Knight Trilogy)

Poll Position: Most Anticipated Movies Of 2017

So, as this is most likely going to be the last poll for this year thanks to the very busy period between Christmas and New Year, I thought I would probably be best to take a look forward into next year, at what looks to be shaping up to be a very good year for "geek" cinema. We'll see the MCU steam ahead towards the Infinity War, find out if the DCEU can actually swim rather than simple tread water and we get a new Star Wars. But which are you most looking forward to?

As per usual, I've given you 10 options to start with and you can add your own, provided they are movies that currently have a 2017 release date scheduled.

What Were They Thinking: In Memorium- Scott Summers

Ladies and Gentlemen, usually on What Were They Thinking, we look at the stupidest, most ill-advised things that have ever taken place in the history of the comic book industry. But today, we are gathered here for a funeral. We are here to mourn the loss of Scott Summers, also known as the hero Cyclops, long serving leader of the X-Men, who has been so cruelly taken from us. I mean, he's not dead, well as far as I'm aware, but he might as well be. There is such a thing as "character assassination", which is the malicious and unjustified harming of a persons good reputation, and of all characters in comics history, no-one has been through a more rigorous and thorough one than Scott Summers. And the culprit? That'd be Marvel.

So, how did they do it, and what was their motive. Well in the great tradition of murder mysteries, I'm going to gather all the suspects in a room and explain to you whodunit.

Top 10 Things Marvel Would Like You To Forget About The X-Men

The X-Men have been going for 53 years at this point. During the over half a century in existence, they grew from a 5 mutant team led by a bald guy in a wheelchair to a huge multinational force containing some of the most recognisable and most iconic characters in the history of comics. Their 1991 main book renumbering X-Men #1 became the best selling individual issue of all time, selling well over 8.1 million copies, and the team have been involved in some of Marvels greatest ever storylines (The Dark Phoenix Saga and Days Of Future Past to name a few). But for all their high points, there's a lot of things about Marvels marvellous mansion of immutable mutants that they'd like you to forget.

Character Of The Year 2016: Preliminary Round

Continuing our yearly tradition, as it is nearing the end of the year we've collected together all of the winners of this years CDC's (except for the current ones that have no winner at time of posting) and ask you guys to decide which one should be crowned Character Of The Year. In this preliminary round we have 12 pictures randomly placed into each of our 4 polls using a randomizer (well, except Poll 4 which has only 10 because reasons). You can vote for up to 5 of your favourites in each poll once a day until 12 am on the Saturday 17th. After that, the 4 pictures with the highest votes in each poll and the highest voted 2nd place picture will go into a final poll to decide our Character Of The Year, which will be announced on Christmas Eve and inducted into the Hall Of Fame.

Anyway, the polls are below the jump.

So, turns out this was a very popular category. This poll had more suggestions than any previous poll and beat our record for most votes on a List poll by a good 50 votes.
