Life was not always easy for young Jonathan, being the son of the most famous and beloved superhero the world had ever seen, Mr. Ultimate. Even at a young age, he somewhat resented living in his father’s shadow. Displaying the same powers, he fought alongside his dad as a sidekick for a while before growing weary of playing second banana and adopting the name Ultimate Man after striking out on his own.

When Mr. Ultimate died, leaving a leadership gap in Hero Corps, Jonathan reluctantly accepted the offer to step in. He would lead the team for decades to come.
