Our Power User to profile this week did well in the last Friday Night Fights and always comes through with interesting character designs. I give you headlessgeneral!
- Online name used in HeroMachine environs: headlessgeneral
- What is the secret origin of that name: Oh about ten years or so ago my friends and I used to play a lot of the board game Risk. I always used the green army and the head was broken off one of the little horsey guys. I called him my headless general and only brought him out at crucial points of the game. I don't remember exactly why I chose that as my HeroMachining name, but that's what it is.
- A photo (or drawing) of you in "real life":
- Real name: Joe
- Real city/state/country: Ohio, USA
- Real job: Unemployed
- Real age: 35
- Gender: Male
- Relationship status (married, single, in a long-term relationship, dating someone, "it's complicated", etc): Single
- Online archive of your creations: The General's hero gallery
- The best piece of HeroMachine art you've created:
- Favorite all-time geeky movie if any: "The Dark Knight"
- Favorite all-time geeky book if any: Hmm.... I've not really read many geeky books, besides comic books. I can tell you my favorite comic book series was/is "Planetary" by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday
- Favorite all-time geeky TV show if any: "Smallville". Out of current shows I like Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Haven.
- Favorite all-time comic book character if any: Growing up I was always more into group comics than solo books. And the X-men are my favorite, with my favorite character changing constantly. Now, if I had to pick a favorite character, it would probably be Elijah Snow from "Planetary". Or Batman. I have a hard time choosing things.
- If you could have one super-heroic power in real life, you'd choose: Immortality. I want to be alive when many of the things we consider science fiction become reality. Also, there are soo many things I want to know that I think will be answered with time.
- In your leisure time you like to: Hang out with friends and family, watch sports, read, heromachine. Been playing DCUO a lot since it's been made free.
- Character design turn-ons (things you love to see that make for a good design): Thought and care put into an illustration. I like seeing images that you can just tell the creator enjoyed making it.
- Character design turn-offs (things you hate to see that make for a bad design): Going along with my turn-ons, my biggest turn-off is when not enough thought has been put into an image and easily fixable things are looked over.
- Best tip for a HeroMachine newbie: Somet You can study others and learn from them but you don't have to get so caught up in what everyone else is doing. Don't be afraid to do your own thing. There are as many styles to be created as there are creators. And I love to see all of them.
- Any personal message you'd like to share with the HeroMachine community about Geek Life: Do what makes you happy!
